While doing the schools project I've come across this grid layout on a
few occasions & I'm curious what activity/sport it's used for.
Who's got teenage kids that would know?

I've seen a grid marked area like this used as a training pitch. The size
of the playing area can be easily reduced for 3 vs 3, 4 vs 4, etc.
