Adding not:name is the correct method to resolve these errors and remove them 
from the list, as they are otherwise tagged correctly in OSM with the name and 
ref detailed separately.

I notice that in Glasgow there are 9 road segments flagged up for
name=London Road (A74) which is correctly in OSM as name=London Road
ref=A74.

I can add not:name to suppress these, but not sure if this is something
that is being flagged up elsewhere in country, and if this is something
that could (easily) be tweaked in the algorithm.

Sounds like a nice summer project to get that down to 0! I've updated my 
Garmin files that have a point for each of the two probably names as
