Re: [Talk-GB] Laura Ashley - looking for tagging consensus

2019-12-21 Thread Silent Spike
Thanks for all the responses, very useful discussion and I was totally
unaware that some locations bear the additional "Home" branding.

@SK53 Looks like there's only one instance of `shop=furnishings`.

I think both of these options seem sensible:
1. Add "Laura Ashley" under `shop=clothes` and "Laura Ashley Home" under
`shop=furniture` (or similar)
2. Add "Laura Ashley" under both `shop=clothes` and `shop=furniture` and
leave it up to mappers to pick what's most suitable for their location

2019-12-20 Thread SK53
Hi,

I actually went and scouted out one of my local stores
 after the last post. It's
called "Laura Ashley Home" and does furniture, fabrics etc. I never checked
usage of shop=furnishings. In days gone by there were concessions selling
similar wares (probably more fabrics) in Homebase.

I would expect that high street shops major in clothes, retail park shops
either furniture or a mix of the two. If "Laura Ashley Home" is a widely
used name then that will help.

I note that there are a couple of Laura Ashley branded hotels and some tea
rooms mentioned on the website
.

2019-12-20 Thread Tony OSM

Hi

I've been in several of their shops, have just looked at their website,
and can see the tags below - -  I think that this is a lifestyle shop
that sells all of those tagged bar fashion. Lifestyle tag  is only used
5 times but that word occurs frequently on their website.

My 2nd choice is home-furnishing.

To me clothes are less important to this shop than historically was the
case.

Hi,

I may be wrong, but I believe that there were some home (furniture) shops that
didn’t sell clothing, and some years ago my family would reliably buy wallpaper
from Laura Ashley which had the traditional Laura Ashley design on it. So that
would seem to back up the “interior_decoration” tag. So I don’t know that you
