Hi,
I use inkscape and it does not do that by default
In Inkscape, open File / Document Properties, tab Page. Background must be
set to Transparent / White.
Then when you use File / Export Bitmap, it should be converted to a PNG with
a transparent background, of course I assume you have not

You might want to try Inkscape. It is a vector based drawing tool and
exports transparent PNGs by default.
