Follow up - i received no reply from the mapper in question (message
sent on 29 November), so i sent him a followup indicating i was starting
to make the changes and have started working on it. i will fix the two that
i'm aware of manually and then set up an overpass query and ponder
the right way to fix the rest. if it becomes a bulk edit, i will consult
with
the necessary folks as required.

devices=3

I tried using Maproulette but ended not doing this due to multiple bugs
that together made using this service extremely flustrating.

So I would recommend fixing known issues rather adding new features.

Reported issues that I run into:

- https://github.com/maproulette/maproulette2/issues/335
- https://github.com/maproulette/maproulette2/issues/337

Note that there were many more similar problems but given that reported
issues are not fixed I decided against spending time on reporting them.

Re: [OSM-talk] Planned rendering changes of protected areas

2017-12-07 Per discussione Daniel Koć

W dniu 07.12.2017 o 17:04, Greg Troxel pisze:

I also object to deprecating leisure=nature_reserve. The protected_area
scheme is too complicated for most people to deal with fully and
leisure=nature_reserve has proved itself to be useful.

This way or another it seems to me that leisure= key is wrong and using
boundary=protected_area (or even just boundary=) is proper.

Leisure is just a common, but not the inherent property of nature
reserve - the protection is:

"Usage of a leisure key, actually, might contradict a protection status
in a lot of cases, where nature reserve doesn't allow any leisure
activities. Ownership and enforcement are totally different things from
protection level. For example, in Russian Federation, there are huge
state-owned protected areas with limited access intended for hunting.
They have strict protection enforcement and they usually are equal to
class 4 or 6. Private hunting lands with similar access restriction,
management level, and enforcement exist in other countries. Someone
might argue that if hunting is allowed, it is not a protection, but
that's just a personal idea of protection."

Agreed. To me, the real rendering issue si the lack of showing
protected area, and the tendency to show these features by an edge
marking rather than some kind of fill.

There are some tricks to make rendering better and I'm gonna try them,
but lack of classification of nature reserves is a bigger problem than
just rendering on osm-carto.

We also use a workaround for airports and it works, but using hacks at
all means that there is a deeper problem.

With rivers we don't even have a hack and this is the same problem with
lack of classification for very popular kind of objects.

Can you give an example of the request you're trying? It's not clear
whether you're doing this against the OSRM demo server, or against your own
installation.

I also object to deprecating leisure=nature_reserve. The protected_area
scheme is too complicated for most people to deal with fully and
leisure=nature_reserve has proved itself to be useful.

Agreed. To me, the real rendering issue si the lack of showing
protected area, and the tendency to show these features by an edge
marking rather than some kind of fill.

create view view_osm_point as
select
tags->'station' as "station",
tags->'foo' as "foo",
tags->'bar' as "bar",
"name" as "name",
"highway" as "highway",
...
from planet_osm_point;

machen.

Dear All,

I'll shortly be sending a link to a Doodle poll to try & select a suitable time
for a Midlands footpath mapping meeting after Christmas.

In all likelihood, the meeting will be centred on Coton-in-the-Elms in S.
Derbyshire, a few miles S of Swadlincote and SE of Burton-on-Trent. The
location is easily accessed from the A42 and A38.

This area is odd: many paths in woodland areas of the National Forest have been
mapped in great detail, but there are still lots of missing footpaths as well
as ones missing detail, particularly centred on Coton-in-the-Elms. Detail in
the village is again very patchy: some shops and schools, but on a flying visit
yesterday I added 4 pubs.

The main caveat about the area is that most of the pubs are either not open at
lunchtime or don't do food. The one that does is perfectly pleasant, but seems
to be under new management and has mixed reviews recently (Bulls
Head, Rosliston); and
unfortunately The Black Horse in
Coton-in-the-Elms which is in the Good Beer Guide only does filled cobs
(sandwich rolls to those uninitiated in E. Mids dialect) and may not be open
for lunch. So we'll probably have to take our chances with the former.

The geology is Mercia Mudstone, and much of it is arable, so likely to be muddy
and claggy underfoot.

This
umap
shows the status of footpath mapping in the area in August. I'll update it
shortly & add Warwickshire & Staffordshire paths (extracted from my EMids PRoW
data).

Jerry

*‍ New Help text coming soon*

I recently merged a big pull request to iD, contributed by Manfred Brandl,
to overhaul the internal help texts. The good news is that it
replaces those giant blocks of markdown text with short headings and texts
which will be much easier to translate and maintain going forward. The bad
news is that it means all of that old help text needs to be translated
again…

*If you can translate, I need your help!*

You don’t need to be a programmer - if you speak another language in
addition to English, you can do this! Please log into the iD project on

[Talk-it] Negozio che vende e noleggia proiettori, monitor e videowall

2017-12-07 Per discussione Dario Crespi
Ciao,

videowall, ledwall, maxischermi... Insomma, tutta roba video.

Quale tag usare?

Grazie

Derby is probably doable by several folk; but probably best to talk to Phil
Barnes trigpoint who is likely to be coming from Wem and therefore passes
several potential link-up points.

Maybe a long shot but is anyone attending who might be coming from the
Derby/Uttoxeter/Stoke areas?

Reason being, I'm probably staying with my family in Cheshire that week, and
might be able to make it if anyone can give me a lift from a station on the
Crewe-Derby line. Or even somewhere like Stafford.

If not, no worries!

I'll update it
shortly & add Warwickshire & Staffordshire paths (extracted from my EMids PRoW
data).

Jerry

(GFOSS.it).
