[Talk-cz] czech republic address system

zdravim cesku osm komunitu,

najblizsiemu nizsiemu zo susediacich orientacnych cisiel prida *velke*
pismeno abecedy. vasa vyhlaska (326/2000) velkost pismen nestanovuje:
jako dodatek cisel orientacnich muze byt pouzit jeden znak ceske abecedy
bez diakritickych znamenek.

aktualne vacsina orientacnych cisiel v cechach (21000 vs 1700) pouziva male
pismeno, tak ako to popisuje reg. vyraz na wiki (

aby sme mohli udrzat 100% kompatibitu dat s nasou vyhlaskou bolo by fajn,
keby bol reg. vyraz rozsireny na [0-9]+[a-zA-Z]{0,1} a pridana poznamka o

hello all,

i've been playing a bit with potrace - a bitmap to vector tool trying to
automate building shapes extraction from basemap.at (

mass import, i would like to have austrian mapper community
checked/approved this first. i am planning to do a few fixes here and there
but generally i consider https://db.tt/eUm1BLmg to be ready for upload to
osm. please let me know if it meets your quality criteria for imports or
just share your thoughts/ideas.

2013-12-26 Per discussione Jozef Riha
Thank you all for sharing your views. I chose not to go further with the
import - instead I will describe the procedure I used - maybe someone
could come up with improvements that would make the result look
better/actually usable.

- create a basemap.at xml config for mobac (http://mobac.sourceforge.net/),
select and export to png file (zoom: 19)
- open png file in gimp, select - by color, click on one building,
copypaste to new file, threshold, index - 2 colours (potrace requires
bi-color image), save buildings into pnm file
- potrace -t 100 -k 0.3 -o kittsee.svg -s kittsee.pnm
- import to josm (importvec plugin, 10 000 units = 1995 m)
- select all ways (^f - type:way - simplify using simplifyarea plugin,
using too aggressive values could result in triangular buildings, OTOH too
forgiving ones could leave you with too many nodes and/or speckles caused
by nearby housenumbers or jpeg artefacts
- turn on basemap.at tms background and align, tidy up, add tags

All the best,

jose

 Hi,

before this is imported it would at least need proper
documentation on the Wiki import catalogue.

In addition to the points mentioned by Michael -

  * adjacent buildings do not share nodes * no multipolygons at
buildings with holes - those would have to be created manually *
The buildings are not orthogonalized (q in JOSM) * nodes at very
obtuse angles (e.g. 88°) should be removed.

 I would like to add

 * source tag on every building (source tag on changeset would be enough)
 * existing buildings are not reflected - they would have to be removed
 from the import data.
 * very small buildings seem to be badly traced (triangular shapes etc)
 - - perhaps just drop everything below 10 square metres or so.

There seem to be a number of mismatches between the data and Bing
imagery - but I guess that's because basemap.at is newer? Examples:

[OSM-talk] rendering of shops w/ addr:* at osm.org (mapnik)

2013-01-22 Per discussione Jozef Riha
hello list,

my understanding of addr:* tags in conjunction w/ e. g. shop=* is that
it is an address information extension (feature) of the shop (see the
existence of addr:floor for instance that kinda supports this). it
does not substitute presence of additional addr:* either placed
separately or being put onto a building. however mapnik style at
osm.org thinks that addr:* always takes precedence, look at
http://osm.org/go/0LGZ6EtrF-- and duplicate address points.

what do you think? is it possible to get the style fixed?

thanks and sorry for my english,

Hello Ed,

thank you very much - it's working like a charm. Anyway in the
meantime I found an alternative: OSM relation analyzer at
http://ra.osmsurround.org. The service is able to output gpx file
containing ways belonging to a relation, this can be later converted
to polygon using gpx2poly.pl script. Anyway, I like your simple
one-step solution because it's faster and does not require internet
connection.

Cheers,

jose

customizable using styles - what else should i want? on the other

to get a feel for it.

Here are some of my thoughts...

 Android positive points:
 - platform on the uptake, more apps coming every day
 - nice POI collection app [1]
 - runs multiple apps at once
 - quite open platform

 Android negative points:
 - less apps than iPhone, both for OSM and general
 - not so good as multimedia player (video and audio podcasts)
 - a bit bigger and heavier than iPhone

 iPhone positive points:
 - lots of apps, both for OSM and general [2]
 - CloudMade MapZen POI collector supports for iPhone [3]
 - multitouch interface
 - great multimedia player (video and audio podcasts)
 - nice deal for a 2 year T-Mobile contract

 iPhone negative points:
 - runs only one app at once :(
 - pretty closed platform :(
 - quite expensive, no carrier in Croatia offers it in contract deals :(

Hi Valent,

as for myself I'm using Nokia E51 with gpsmid as my primary mapping
software. Used to utilize TrekBuddy but now that I discovered beauty
of vector maps and audio tagging I am using TB only when gpsmid has
some real issues which leads us to its downsides. Dunno whether it's
j2me implementation, hardware problem or problem with gpsmid but
sometimes I have some hard time with it: bluetooth connection drops
randomly (I'm using external bluetooth module), crash or freeze and I
also ended up with a corrupted midlet once. But still.. I was unable
to find anything better. Anyway your mileage may vary with a different
phone (Sony Ericsson?).

Hope it helps,

joe

[Talk-transit] bus route/relations done right

2009-11-13 Per discussione Jozef Riha
hello all,

i posted the latter text into t...@osm today but then someone
suggested i should better ask here. so, the post goes like this:

thank you for your understanding,

joe

-- begin --
hello all,

i'd like to review/finish mapping of bus/tram network during my stay
in bern (ch) and do this right so that no time is wasted fixing my
mistakes. i read through wiki pages but there're still some points
open. for my examples to be more explanatory please open the following
osm file which i'll be referring to. the download url is
http://nic-nac-project.org/~jose1711/donotdelete/bus_route.osm

i consider bus 1 route to be the correct way of entering a simple
route. backward/forward rules are based on the way's orientation, not
Terminus A - Terminus B or vice versa orientation just as the wiki
says. what to do though when it's not really clear what way does the
bus stop belong to like in bus route 2? how do i know if it's forward
or backward role i should use when i don't know to which way the bus
stop is connected. consider that i may not be able to change
orientation (situation: oneway for cars, buses can drive both
directions). also, does the ways (segments) in relation need to be
ordered or this is mandatory for bus stops only?

next thing. i have seen many osm users create bus routes such as route
4, while i think the correct way is route 3. am i correct?

thank you for your comments,

jozef
