Re: [Talk-in] OSM India Telegram -> Matrix Bridge

Setup a riot/matrix room and bridge to telegram.

If we have irc and whatsapp we can bridge them too. That way we can have
unified communication.

[Talk-in] Need all the district details of India

2018-10-05 Per discussione Thejesh GN
Dear All,
I am trying to get all the district level. See if this query is okay?

http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/Cxq

I am getting this

*An error occured during the execution of the overpass query! This is what
overpass API returned:*

*runtime error: Query ran out of memory in "query" at line 6. It would need
at least 0 MB of RAM to continue.*

Is there any smarter way to do this?

I am doing this to check the status of Kannada translation (name:kn).

[Talk-in] Lockers in Subway stations

Hi All,
Some of the bus stations and subway stations have luggage lockers, Its an
important information to have on those nodes.

I found two keys to enter these details

http://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/lockers
http://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/locker

There are no wiki pages for them.

My values are Yes/No.

Let me know if you have any opinion on which one should I use.

Re: [Talk-in] Publisher of maps in Indian Language

2016-09-22 Per discussione Thejesh GN
I think something like https://www.transifex.com/ would be great.

Can we have the process where we can

Export - Translate - Import into OSM.

I know OSM has rules around mass import. We don't have to do huge ones. We
can do 1000 verified items at once.

Or any other way where we don't violate the rules but has tabular UI for
translation.

As of now I personally find maps.me very easy to use for translation.

I will try & send the leaderboard related changes as pull request to osm.in

BTW I wrote about Indian language maps[1]. Please do send me your feedback
if any.

I think the existing convention works really well. Use name tag for latin
script and specific language tag for that language names. I think this
makes it easy to work and also divide work.

Re: [Talk-in] [datameet] Re: Chennai Rains and Data

2015-12-02 Per discussione Thejesh GN
There is also map (shapefile) of flood over chennai area by UN

http://www.unitar.org/unosat/node/44/2312

This map illustrates satellite-detected waters and probable flood waters in
the Chennai area of the Tamil Nadu State in India. Using satellite imagery
acquired 12 November 2015, 01 September 2015, and 14 October 2015,
UNITAR-UNOSAT identified expansion of wetlands and standing waters in the
area of Chennai and also some saturated soils areas which are mainly
agricultural fields. Saturation in the area increased between 14 October
2015 and 12 November 2015, and the total water expansion is estimated to be
about 28%. This analysis has not yet been validated in the field.
