The "Beginner's Guide" has been enthusiastically translated into 45 languages (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Beginners%27_guide), and most these versions have probably been bit-rotting away from the day of their inception, but now they actually document something that does not work any more, which is more noticeable than documenting something that is "maybe a little out of touch". I have a hunch that the whole "Beginner's Guide" idea needs a thorough overhaul (I don't see mobile editing mentioned in many versions for example, and it seems that some language versions still advise that collecting GPX data is the first step before you can do anything), but that's likely a major undertaking.
