Nope ... no-one's got it so far. It's only a tiny little word. Keep on
trying.  Gosh this is fun!

What about..um...methanphetamine or however you spell it? I think I'm wrong.
But it's worth a try.

  Well, the closest thing I can think of is millennium.
  But I know 2 things:
  1. just saying that would have resulted in a 1 line talk2 message.
  2. and that would have been really really borring.

Hi all

I just have to share this with someone, because it made me laugh so much,
and I thought since it had me baffled for a little while, I'd present you all
with the same sinario as what just happened to me, and see if you can figure
what happened.

I was playing Boggle, which is a game where you have to pick out words from
a grid of letters, and I'd started to struggle to find words, so was looking
down the list of what I already had, and suddenly, my text to speech hit upon a
word, and spouted out one thousand and nine. Thinking something must have
flashed up on screen or something, though why it would do that, I couldn't say,
I tried going up and down to the previous and nextwords, which read ok, but
this one word would keep reading as one thousand and nine. All of a sudden,
I got it, without actually looking at the word in question. So now, here's
your challenge. Can you guess what the word was, and why it read like that?
I'll give you one clue, to be fair, because I probably wouldn't have got it
without knowing this: The words I was looking at at the time all started with
the letter M.

Have fun

Hi:

Is it perhaps MIX? This is the only thing I can think of that comes remotely
close to what you described with such an end-result.
I have no auto-translation for such things, though.
m = 1000
i = 1
x = 10
10-1 (since I comes before X) = 9

Well done Tasha, you're dead right, and yours was the first e-mail I got. Also
well done Patrick, and good on ya for giving the whole answer to the challenge.
 I hope you all enjoyed fathoming that one out. I certainly found it fun, and
the way it happened to me in the first place made it even more so.

I may be back with more in the future if I can think up any.

Uniqueness doesn't count. Should we be concerned that methamphetamine
was the first word that you thought of?

I don't know...should you? Whether or not you're concerned is really you're
prerogative, now, isn't it? Asking me is rather irrelevant. :-)
