Re: Song of the Month-December 2010
OK, I called in the CSI investigators this a.m. At approx. 1:20 sec. on The Girls Video, you can see the lefthand pinky finger on girl on the right go from the G to the A on the D string during the Brain Spasm part of the arrangement, which is played along with the open A. I'm still not 100 percent sure on the count, but it sounds as if they're chording a G at the end of measure six on the Tater Codex during the repeat of the B part, then raising it a second to the A, which is played against an open A string drone. If I wrote this out, I'd insert a special old time two-beat measure at the end of the truncated second B part, just ahead of teleporting back to the head of the tune. As utterly bizarre as this is, it has the effect of whipsawing the tune into hyperspace at the turnaround. Beam me up, Scotty. I need more coffee. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Taterbugmando group. To post to this group, send email to taterbugma...@googlegroups.com. OK here's my attempt on the fiddle; mistakes included. Let me know what you think. Am I on the right track at all? And I'm working on my mandolin version but it's real slow going. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d1JSAF4NUs Gathel -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Taterbugmando group. Re: Song of the Month-December 2010
All, I haven't had time to pick up the mandolin but once in the last two weeks. Life is kinda busy right now. My wife is making her second trip in 4 days 2 hours away to see her mother in ICU. It really is a matter of (little) time before she is gone. In the meantime, I am Mr. Mom and Mr. Dad, taking care of a birthday slumber party for my little girl, who turned seven yesterday among the rest of the duties. I've intentionally not listened to anyone's recording because I don't want to be influenced by anyone's take on it. I am sure they are all terrific, though. I hope to get some time to work on it tonight. A little late into this but I'd appreciate the slowed-down version as well. Re: Song of the Month-December 2010
I know where you are at (as I believe one may say in the United States). There is a reason the Universe created Disney: it's to give parents 80 minutes of mandolin practice time, and to hell with the dirty washing. Jane Austen had loads of kids, no wii and even fewer Nintendo DS, but did her pages per day. On the other hand, all her kids grew up to be football hooligans and dope fiends, due to their abandonment by their mother in favour of art. Or not. I say no matter how poor the situation is, make sure you do something for yourself But maybe I'm just trying to reinforce the lessons and do the homework... 2010/12/7, nelsonpeddyco...@knology.net nelsonpeddyco...@knology.net: All, I haven't had time to pick up the mandolin but once in the last two weeks. Good fun, nice posts on youtube. I've attacked it as well, but now trying to play it better up the neck which is my weak point. Lessons to be learned.
