Thank you for this update. I understand the decision. Maybe this can be
investigated after you get the level of improvements you are hoping for in IMAP.

Onward and upward.

Have a great day.

Well, it was better than no support for EWS. If EWS is not supported
at all, it is a show-stopper. We may or may not like EWS, but this is
reality. My university uses it, and I do need to have access to that
account.

These are volunteers who translate language textual files from English to other
languages on LGPL (Lesser GNU General Public Licence) bases. As about Czech
language, it is Marek Mikus who last time has made translations in 2015.

We keep the files at www.assembla.com/spaces/lng , they are accessible via SVN
(Subversion) protocol.

Dear Paul,

Not for me - it does not work like that, using 8.0.14.1 alpha.
Entering text in the quick search field jumps to the next fitting
message (not the first), but does not filter the list. Clearing the
quick search text does not jump back, but changing the text does jump
further down the list to the next fitting message. Hitting ESC first
hides the quick search box and a second ESC hit resets the message
list, but does not close any tab.

Am I missing a setting here?

Thanks for your hints!

I'm still not not sure though. My x32 8.0.14.1 doesn't filter the list when
i type in a search term - it merely jumps to the
first message fitting that filter. When I type in "noord", it jumps to the
first message from you, if already on such one, nothing visible happens.

This seems like a change to the behavior as I knew it.

As for the empty search term: regardless on whether I use Enter right or
not - do you see sense in adding an empty search term to the list to create
"viktor +" or "viktor+ +Christmas"?

Why do you press Enter? Deleting the text in Quick Search returns the
message list back to the previous state before doing a Quick Search.
There is no need for using the Enter key unless you wish to create a Tab

So that "+" is actually the separator of the previous search term and the
new _empty_ one? I see what you mean, that sincerely didn't occur to me.
While I would probably understand like this for "viktor + Christmas" - does
it make the same amount of sense when the other search term is empty?

Just tested now - you are right: I could create a tab saying "viktor+ +16".

Something tells me that the empty search term shouldn't be considered when
entered in the search field and the whole addition not done. Or am I
missing the point in searching for an empty string?

By this way you can refine your search.

After receiving this mail, you could enter in the search filed "Willms" and
should get a new tab with the mails found with "willms" among the files which
were previously selected with "Viktor"

Yep, that`s the point!

Btw: Enable Message List Tabs and then …

- Quick Search “sample” → [Enter] → Only mails containing “sample“ are
displayed in message list (tab {sample}).

- Quick Search cleared → [Enter] → New tab {sample+} is created.

> Now it is not working and extra combination CTRL + = is needed to

I created a shortcut [Esc] to reset the Quick Search:

→ Quick Search cleared → [Esc] → *All* mails are displayed again. ツ

To my knowledge, you can also press Esc once or twice to get rid of the tab you
just activated, but yes, I also think the behavior now feels more tab-centric,
less suited for those who prefer ad-hoc searches.
Pressing Enter always created a new tab - correct?

Could it be that in the earlier versions, you could enter the quick search text
and have the list filtered without pressing Enter (which would have created the
tab before, too)?

I also see another behavior I'm not sure I saw before:
- enter the name of one of us in the mailing list's message list, say "viktor".
- pres enter, a tab will be created with the text "viktor"
- select the search text, delete it, press Enter
- *another tab* will be created sporting "viktor +"
