Re: Lost emails
Title: Re: Lost emails Hello Ira, I use Mailwasher to pre scan and delete all the spam before downloading. Today I had 11 messages to download after cleaning and 10 of them are gone. Downloaded, but nowhere to be found. Normally, I can quit and restart the bat and they come back, but today I lost all those emails. I've searched by subject, sender and text and not one of them made it into a mailbox. There are a lot of things I can put up with in an email program, but pretending to download and then deleting from the server so they are lost forever is not one of them. As I am sure you know, in each folder Properties you can define an Identity for that folder. Before retirement, when still actively working, I did need to use different Identities. So, what I did was to create a folder called Identities, with a subfolder for each Identity. It was a good substitute for the drop down list you would like. SmartSpace reading not working with some HTML messages (WAS: Re: The Bat! v8.8.9 MSI (3rd attempt))
Hello Maxim, > Please try The Bat! v8.8.9 MSI files (3rd attempt): > > https://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/thebat_64_8-8-9.msi With this version of TB I've discovered that, as the Subject says, SmartSpace reading does not work with *some* HTML messages, it does not mark the message as read and does not jump to next unread. I tried with previous beta (8.8.2.8) end behaviour is the same. So, I don't really know when the bug/problem was introduced. Actually, it is quite annoying. I have four messages from PayPal, all "Content-Type: multipart/alternative", and when the HTML tab is selected, SmartSpace works as expected with two (and only two) of the four messages, and does nothing with the other two. When the text tab is selected it works as expected with the four messages. Has anybody else noticed a similar behaviour? If so, I will open a BT report. BTW, I can send the four messages from PayPal to anyone willing to investigate further. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Urech (Els Poblets (Alicante - Spain) Using The Bat! This looks like it could be a problem with Gmane when "reconstructing/converting" the original headers. But... I also think there IS a problem or difference with v8.6. If while using v8.5.8 the messages in that folder are threaded correctly it surely is because it is using the "References" header. As it should be. However, if v8.6 fails to thread correctly my guess is that Rit guys changed something and "Threading by References" is now trying to use (or using) the In-Reply-To header. Further to my last I have tested the following: - I created a folder in my main account, just below TBBeta. - I copied all messages in "gmane.mail.the-bat.beta" to the newly created folder, and the behaviour is the same: threaded with 8.5.8 and unthreaded with 8.6. But I also did the "opposite": I created a new folder in my Gmain account and copied messages from TBBeta to this new folder and , voila, messages in this new folder are shown threaded with both versions. My guess then is that there must be something in the headers of messages coming from Gmain that v8.6 does not "like or understands", while version 8.5.8 does. -- Best regards, Miguel A. 8.6 Shows folder unthreaded while 8.5.8 shows it threaded
Hello all, In the past few days, when there were problems with the list, I created a new account to be able to access "gmane.mail.the-bat.beta" in Gmane. This help at least me to see which messages I was not getting in TBBeta. Anyway, last night I downloaded and installed v8.6 an I was quite surprised when looking at "gmane.mail.the-bat.beta" folder and saw that all messages (from previous days) were showing unthreaded. Like this: http://www.canyonero.com/files/1534491105.jpg While with v8.5.8 I see the same folder threaded, like this: http://www.canyonero.com/files/1534491172.jpg All my view modes thread by Reference, and both versions use the same view mode for this folder.
