Re: 9.2.2.1 PRIVACY violation: The Bat! inserts local hostname (from LAN) instead of IP in brackets

2020-07-28 Thread Gwen
Hello list,
hello Stefan,

The Bat! has a privacy issue which could reveal internal structure
of a company LAN.

1. Send a mail to yourself
2. Receive it
3. Inspect source
4. Check last "Received: from" mail header
   Could say something like
   Received: from service2.fritz.box (p5dcf13e5.dip0.t-ipconnect.de
   [93.207.19.229])

Thunderbird generates only for the header:
   Received: from [192.68.1.20] (p5dcf13e5.dip0.t-ipconnect.de
   [93.207.19.229])

What happens on your PCs with the header? Also revealing information?

This anonymization is a missing feature and in such times of lack of
privacy not really useful!

What do you think?
I would like to get such anomyzation like Thunderbird does in mail header.

Yes, but if you use a mouse you do not need to select by keyboard,
the mouse can select text.

The problem is keyboard-only usage!

URGENT!

Extremely bad performance on with The Bat! 9.2.0.4 32bit!
Showing HTML messages and stepping thur list list does a delay with
2-3 sec for every entry.
Works fast on a 9.2.0.4 64bit
Why? Too slow!

If selecting some HTML message in message list two new The Bat!
Chromium CEF processes are started and cause freezes for 2-3 sec.

Extend macro %TOLNAME and similar macros

2020-06-13 Thread Gwen
Hello Stefan, hello List,

for my daily office work in need better name macros to be used in
templates.

Currently f.ex. the %ToLName detects the last word of typed name in
To: field.
That may lead to a incomplete lastname in a mail.
I like to explain that.

= = =

In templates Macros like %...LNAME only detect the last word in of a address as
lastname.
That works mostly.
But in Germany and some other countries you can have prefixes for lastnames.
In Switzerland surnames are separated with space.

For example this complete name and mail address is used in To: address:
Oskar von Miller

The correct %TOFNAME would be Oskar, the correct %TOLNAME "von Miller"
But The Bat! generates:
for %TOFNAME "Oskar"
and %TOLNAME "Miller"
And that is wrong.

In Netherlands exist names like
Jos van de Vries
Means: "Jos" is prename and "van de Vries" surname.
Or "Adam de Bakker"
Means: "Adam" is prename and "de Bakker" surname.

More on names:
https://www.dutchgenealogy.nl/prefixes-in-surnames/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_family_name_affixes
https://www.suzzgenpage.com/surname-prefixes-and-suffixes/

= = =

Writing a bunch of RegExes in templates to extract the correct
lastname is not usable for regular users.

My wish would be get extended name macros so the correct Lastname will be
detected by macro..

Please support my wish:

I always install The Bat! in program folder P:\The Bat! and set as
defaul Mail client as it works in The Bat! 9.1.16.

Now the Chromium DEF libs and files are not found if i start from
command line (cmd.exe) with
start mailto:test@€xample.org

Seems The Bat! does not load libs from startup folder.

Please give us a fix for problems with %...LNAME macros!

I can not insert complete LastName from address book as The Bat! takes
only the last word instead the complete entry.
The issue makes it uneasy to send our customers mails by a template

Address Book dokumentation of exportable/importable file formats missing

2020-05-25 Thread Gwen
Hello list, hello Maxim,

The Bat! has the feature to import/export addresses into address book.

Unfortunately there is no documentation on Ritlabs Help pages to get
information:
* which structure such files should have to be valid for import
* which restriction for import/export these different file types have

This make it uneasy to use The Bat! with address list from other
programs in daily office work.

I know, to investigate i could export a address book entry, save as
desired output format, and analyse the structure, but that is not the
way users should be forced to act.

Dear Ritlabs devs, please add documentation about file format on your
web pages about structure and restrictions.

Have a nice day. And stay well.

SHA1 is a outdated hashing algorithm for data. And its hashing algo is
not really free from vulnerabilities.

I'm just curious. What is it used for in The Bat!? I guess, not for
encryption.

My account fetches all 2 minutes.
If i put a mail in Outbox, reopen it, change something, the Autosave
feature (Editor settings, after 60 sec) detects changes and sets to Parked.
So no previous mail can be sent from Outbox.

But you are right, for better usability the message should be switched
to Parked if opened in editor.

Please report that as a bug to The Bat! bugtracker.
