Yep, that`s the point!

Btw: Enable Message List Tabs and then …

- Quick Search “sample” → [Enter] → Only mails containing “sample“ are
displayed in message list (tab {sample}).

- Quick Search cleared → [Enter] → New tab {sample+} is created.

> Now it is not working and extra combination CTRL + = is needed to

I created a shortcut [Esc] to reset the Quick Search:

→ Quick Search cleared → [Esc] → *All* mails are displayed again. ツ

[The Bat! 4.2.33.3 Beta] Problem with Macros and Address-Book

2010-02-05 Thread Volker Ahrendt
Moin, folks!

I do not know in which version it broke, but it *definitely* worked in
previous versions:

I use this macro in some templates:

%If:%ToAddr=%ABToEmail:TEXT_A:TEXT_B

This in general works fine as long as there is only *one* eMail-Address
assigned to the corresponding address-book contact, i.e. TEXT_A is
displayed.

But if more than one eMail-Address is assigned to a contact and you
choose the *secondary* Address, TEXT_B is displayed although it has to
be TEXT_A.

Can someone confirm this bug?

Moin, Rick!

This has happened several times now with this build The Bat appears
to close normally and successfully. I attempt to reopen it and I get
the following error. Using task manager I find the Bat still running
and have to kill it manually. Anyone else?

Yes and no:

I noticed that the progress bar at shutdown of The Bat! (Win7)
disappered after 10 to 40 % of progress, but in the taskmanager the
process stayed for several seconds. I assume that it is the time from
x% to 100%.

Under WinXP the progress bar is visible up to 100%, but the process
stays in memory for several seconds, too.

But I do not have to kill the process …

Will you file a bug-report?

Moin, folks!

Every now and then I come across this inconsistence. In The Bat! there
are several dialogs where you can specify for which folders the
regarding setting shall be applied.

In some dialogs¹ the behavior is like this: Clicking a folder in the
folder tree only checks that specific folder, a [ctrl]+click checks
the folder and all subfolders. And in some other dialogs² the behavior
is vice versa.

¹) - Setup Message List Tab = List (•) Specified folders
   - Virtual Folder Properties = [Select folders]

²) - Folder|Maintenance Centre…

And the third type is the Find messages dialog:

- Clicking top-level folder (account name) with or without [ctrl]
makes no difference, i.e. always all subfolders are checked, too

- Clicking a subfolder (inbox etc.) behaves like ¹)

I would like to have just one consistent behavior and that is:

- clicking top-level folder checks the folder and all subfolders
- a [ctrl]+click only checks that specific folder

What’s your opinion?

Cheers!

Click on Edit in dialog Setup Message List Tab do nothing.

BTW: Right-clicking on a message list tab and then choosing Edit tab
brings up a different dialog than the Setup Message List Tab dialog.

I expected the Setup Message List Tab dialog.

longer available for my account since Mantis-upgrade in September,

AFAIK it is a 2 step system, i.e. at first you have to change the
status from Verify wait to Resolved and afterwards you can close
the bug.

Verify fail never was. Is that correct behavior?

It seems to me that you only can set this status if you are the
initial reporter of the corresponding bug. In this case you have to
click the [Reopen] button. = Reopen means Verify fail, okay!? ;-)

It seems to me that the statistics (Sorting Office|Statistics Tab) of

Any confirmations?

Good. The error says the file is in use, so access is denied for
renaming. Have tried clearing the cache. Also deleted the file in

Please delete all account files and create it again. It now creates
IMAP accounts properly. But if you had a bad account created by

 I did two tests tonight:

Both messages were sent as expected, so I just can say that the

OK thanks - let me look deeper on this end. It's odd as I have not
been changing the system much i.e. installing programs etc.

The test with an IMAP account was okay, too.

Moin, folks!

Could there be a implementation, which does this like here:
 Re: BETA (was: Re: 4.0.0.19)

That's WRONG! If it would ever be implemented, it should be
 Re: BETA (was: 4.0.0.19)

Good idea! - My favorite news client (40tude Dialog) does so, too:
If you edit the subject line of a reply the client sets the original
 subject in brackets like above.

I found a (quite good) solution for this problem:

a) Semiautomatic

- Create a Quicktemplate and (out of convenience) assign a shortcut:

  %If:%Subj%OSubj:%Subject='Re: %Subj (was: %OSubj)':%Subj

- Reply to a message and edit the Subject line
- Hit Shortcut
- Be happy! :-)

b) Automatic

- Include the macros in your reply template:

  %If:%Subj%OSubj:%Subject='Re: %Subj (was: %OSubj)':%Subj

- Reply to a message and edit the Subject line
- Be happy! :-)

Pro solution a):

You can run the QT at any time even if the textbody of the new message
is already modified.

Pro solution b):

The macros run really automatically! :-) But there are two
limitations:

1. The template must not contain the macro: %ModifyOnce(Subject)
2. The textbody must *not* be modified *before* you change the subject
   line.

Maybe some of you like this solution, too. ;-)

Re: [The Bat! 4.2.6] Support of TNEF broken

2009-06-15 Thread Volker Ahrendt
[Reply to: »Marek Mikus« · 2009-06-15 · 00:06 h (CET)]

Moin!

I do not know how long it is broken, but in the current version the
TNEF support does not seem to work, i.e. The Bat! does not extract
 Outlook's winmail.dat files.

 Can anyone confirm?

no, I have checked some messages which includes winmail.dat files
and TB extracts them as allways.

I did some research and found Max’ announcement:

 .·¨[Max @ TBB regarding The Bat! 4.0.0.1 ALPHA]¨·.
 ·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—
[+] The Bat! now support MS-TNEF format for embedded attachments.
Please note that only raw attachment are extracted. MS-TNEF can
include nested binary (Outlook IMessage) messages, Outlook meeting
requests, Outlook delivery reports, and so on. Such binary Outlook
 objects are not extracted.
 ·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—·—

So, this makes things clear to me. But IIRC it was discussed here, if
an already extracted winmail.dat still should be displayed in the
attachment pane or not. Who does know more about that matter?

Cheers!

Lack of Clear Communication (was: Again IMAP Support)

2009-06-09 Thread Volker Ahrendt
[Reply to: »Marck D Pearlstone« · 2009-06-09 · 01:08 h (CET)]

Moin, Marck!

pardon accepted, but we in TBBETA are not only customers.

Oh, come on, Marek! If we are primarily *not* customers, what do
 you think we are?

read carefully what I wrote. You are customer, but not only.

And a beta tester. So I have no right to get information in time?
You cannot be serious! It is just ridiculous!

Okay - let me interject in this thread to try to dismantle the tower
of babel that seems to be looming above us.

Yep, thanks! :-)

I think Marek means We are not *the* only customers (that RITlabs
 has).

That is a completely *different* meaning. Thanks for clarification.

This is a truth. Here on TBBETA we represent a tiny minority of the
RITlabs customer base and I would suggest that we are hardly a
 typical set of users.

Nobody is saying that you don't make a valid point, only that you
haven't considered all the factors at play.

Okay, maybe until now the subject line has been a little misleading:

1. All I want to say is, that I want clear statements from *RITLabs*
which we can rely on, e.g. like a simple 'Hey guys, we're still
working on it, but needed to fix some urgent customer problems
   first'.

2. And again I do *not* care so much about rework on IMAP just because
I only sometimes have little problems (aka pet peeves) with IMAP,
but no real showstoppers. But obviously there are a lot of people,
who have *serious* problems with IMAP support. And I think that
these people have the right to get a statement like the one
   mentioned above.

I hope that now my intention is clear and we can close this thread.
:-)

Cheers!
VA

P.S.: Maybe the RITguys read this thread, too …

4.2 is minor upgrade with more bugfixes than additions, yes,
postponed sending is available, but there are importans bugfixes and
this is reason this version was released as final.

IMHO RITLabs does not make any difference between major and minor
releases: Release is release.

The mentioned above statements were done during 4.1.x series, so the
next release would be 4.2.x, i.e. *this* release. By the way wasn't

as Stef wrote some weeks ago, IMAP will be focused in development

Why is it often so hard for people to admit, that something
(repeatedly) went wrong?

IIRC, IMAP development will be continued AFTER the establishment of
the new database format. Which could mean anytime, from v. 4.1
 onward until v. 68876589.3245234.12341231.00457734 onward.

and it continued, even it is not visible yet. I can not tell more,
 Stef should do clear statement.

Yep, a binding statement from RITLabs would be highly appreciated!

Just for clarification: I am using four POP3 accounts and only one
IMAP account. I have sometimes little problems (aka pet peeves) with

But obviously there are a lot of people, who have *serious* problems

The quotes say Imap after the 4.1 series. 4.2 is the product of that

False. The statements were done during beta cycle which lead to the
release of The Bat! 4.1.11 [1] on Jan 22, 2009. So the rework after
the release (see above) should have started in January 2009 and
implemented in the next release (aka The Bat! 4.2.4).
