POP3 hangs occassionally

Hello tbbeta members, Since I switched to Gmail from Gmx pop3 server, the mail check task in Connection Centre hangs occasionally, about 4-5 times a day (checking interval is 1 min). The last log entry always show: Cannot connect to server but task stays in Connection Center. What is
