Dear Thomas,

I can confirm that I am not able to even start beta 6 without internet
connection - after closing the "login to beta" window, TB just exits. This is
unacceptable. I use TB for the ability to access my huge email documentation at
all times.

I hope this is just a beta issue or if not - that Ritlabs will reconsider and
allow us to travel and only require connection when it is needed - i.e for
receiving and sending emails. As opposed to turning TB into webmail.

Hello,

Since beta 5, sometimes when I close TB, the mail ticker will stay on, but
clicking on it produces exception, the TB window opens and closes immediately.
I need to kill TB from task manager.

Hello,

I uninstalled previous beta and unpinned from taskbar, beta 6 installed in
non-default folder and the TB icon is missing:

"Windows can't find the file
%SystemRoot%\Installer\{0CA53753-F935-4F8A-A3E0-2B95CFDB0361}\TheBatIcon."

The newly created start-menu shortcut is invalid, as is the newly-pinned
taskbar entry. I can manually start TB by clicking TBLauncher64.exe in the
customs folder. But pinning this again creates invalid shortcut.

I personally adored previous TB for the possibility to install it in folder of
my choice. What was the need to move it to appdata\local?

Dear Stefan,

I'm not sure it's related to CEF cache, but I'm seeing a considerable decrease
in the time TB needs to display a message in the preview pane when changing
from one message to another.

The last few releases this has been awfully slow and frustrating. Now it feels
like TB is alive again and makes me realise how slow it has been.

Keeping my fingers crossed you also fixed the crashes that I've been having a
few times a day every single day for a while (attached message).

Hello, all

I am also having regular crashes (1-2 times a day), but it does not seem connected to account checking. When I change folders, sometimes TB will freeze and restart itself. See attached tb3.jpg

There is absolutely nothing in thebat64_Exceptions.log.
Here's ex_log.txt from today:

I also notice slow UI rendering sometimes when changing folders. I use horizontal split. Attaching tb1.jpg and tb2.jpg to show what i mean. Note the blank space between the menu line (with all toolbars integrated) and the folder tree / message list / message preview. It takes 5-10 seconds to redraw that correctly and remove the blank space. Sometimes it will stay until I change the folder.

Dear Maxim / Stefan,

I noticed a weird bug today, while trying to reply to a message that
contained "acc." in the subject - the new message window opens and as
soon as the subject line is loaded, the account is set to blank and
the account field disappears from the status line. Screenshot
attached. I have this in my reply template: "%ACCOUNT="%OTOADDR".

I tried replying to the same message copied into another account that
does not have this template and the bug does not happen.

I can confirm what Ira said. check my screenshot - I pasted the tbbeta address from the "to" field to "cc" field, then positioned the cursor at the start of the cc field and typed "iv". immediately I got a list of suggestions AND the text in the cc field got replaced with the first item in my address book that matched it (though it is not even shown up as a suggestion).

I can confirm this - selecting small icons resets the status bar to normal.
Also, on a different PC where i have not touched the customize
toolbars option, TB starts with correct status bar. Selecting large
icons makes it look weird.

Dear Maxim,

Installed and running, gmail problem was solved for me with 9.1.10.

Starting with 9.0.6.5, the status bar at the bottom would mess up (not
sure what triggered it), with 9.1.12 it is that way from TB start.
Check screenshot.
When the toolbar customize window is open, the status bar is changed
to the normal height, but still does not show any text.

Dear Andrei,

I can confirm that - after installing 9.1.4_x64 over 9.1.2 the pinned icon in the taskbar became invalid.

It is weird, because when I installed 9.1.2 over 9.0.16.9 the pinned icon was working (for the first time in a while).

Dear Gleason,

I can't confirm that. The menu works as intended for me now - I can
check independently always, hide or auto. However, selecting "hide"
does not hide an already displayed connection centre window. And as I
have IMAP accounts, "auto" will not hide it after manual checking a
POP account.

Dear Maxim,

I experienced an address book problem, trying to explain:

I tried to send a new mail to a group (as opposed to a single email
address) and got the error "message is not properly addressed".

I discovered that for some reason the address book that contained that
group was not listed anymore in TB. Yet, the group did "auto-complete"
in the TO field of the new message.

Luckily the .ABD file was still intact in the mail base folder and I
could add it back. After a restart of TB, it has not disappeared again.

Dear Maxim,

Yes, I have it set from Options dialog. I also saw the bug report. The
issue is not "only" visual because it is not possible to select only
"hide" or "auto", they always are set together.

Dear Maxim,

I use "horizontal split" and it seems I can place the toolbars in
their own row under the menu OR above the message list column, but not
above the message preview column.
Back in TB 8, i used to be able to utilize the space to the right of
the menu (i.e. the menu and the toolbars in the same row). Is it
possible to do that with TB 9?

Dear Thomas,

Unfortunately this started happening almost regularly. I reverted to 8.8.9 due to another issue and it still happens every 1-2 weeks. Only for one account (out of at least a dozen).

Working for me as expected. Nice addition.

The usage is familiar from most office suites - word, writer and
probably others. I do not find it confusing at all. When a format is
copied and ready to "paste", the button looks "pressed". Pasting only
works once, so nothing unusual.

The only thing I notice that is not immediately expected is that it
seems only the format of the last selected character is pasted (if the
selection contains differently formatted characters, that is).

Dear Maxim,

I received email with TB 8.0.18.2, then exited TB and opened TB 7 on
the same message base. The message list shows this message without
sender and recipient (columns From and To are empty). This does not
change when I move the message to another folder.
Opening the same base again with TB 8, shows correct (populated)
columns From and To.

The message preview panel shows correct From and To headers.

Is the "index re-building" not working in TB 7 or is there a manual
way to invoke it?

===8<==Original message text===
Dear Maxim,

Further to my posts in the 8.0.8 thread, I made some progress with the
exceptions. I have a task set to recur every 10 minutes that executes
a .bat file. On each run (either manual or scheduled) I get the
exception. This happens with every version 8 so far, but not with v7.
The bat file runs fine from command line.
I tried to recreate the task but nothing changed.
The exception dialog does not pop to front but does block TB, so I
have to explicitly locate it and close it in order to be able to use
TB.

I have another automatic task - backup which runs fine.

Let me know if I can help with some other info or test.

p.s. I did delete all "old" tasks in scheduler, which took me some
hours of pressing buttons ;-) So, my scheduler is clean from
suspicious tasks.

Dear Maxim,

I can confirm that the quick search now 'resets' when clearing the
text and hitting Enter. But I think hitting ESC should not hide the
quick search bar, but maybe clear the text if not reset the quick
search filter.

Dear Paul,

Not for me - it does not work like that, using 8.0.14.1 alpha.
Entering text in the quick search field jumps to the next fitting
message (not the first), but does not filter the list. Clearing the
quick search text does not jump back, but changing the text does jump
further down the list to the next fitting message. Hitting ESC first
hides the quick search box and a second ESC hit resets the message
list, but does not close any tab.

Am I missing a setting here?

Fwd: Re: 8.0.8 MSI files

2017-11-14 Thread Dimitar Tomov
Hello, Maxim,

I think the problem comes from scheduler. I noticed that it opens very
slowly and there are thousands of tasks listed, back from 2009. I am not
sure if they were there in the previous version, but for sure the
scheduler opened very quickly in 7.4.16. As I can only delete tasks
one by one, it will take some time to clear them.

I have only 3 recurring tasks and as soon as I try to "execute now", I
get the exception.

Dear Maxim,

Not working here - attached the message on startup. No log was
created, though.

The installation did not go as I expected. I had a v7 working install
in a folder, called theBat7. I made a copy of the entire folder to
theBat8, started 8.0.4 install to the new folder. The setup deleted
most of the files in theBat7 folder and created the new files in
theBat8 folder. So, ruined my old working installation.

I had to revert to 7.4.16, as the link to 8.0.2 seems to contain
7.4.16 files now.
