Require Secure Autentication
Dear all, I have adjusted my SMTP sction on TB!. I used to have the settings acordingly: for Sending mails I used smtp.gmail.com, connection STARTTLS on Port 587. Under Authentication I hade choosen: Perform SMTP Authentication (RFC2554) and selecting same user/password as for mail retrival. NOTE: in receiving mail I have already set my username and password. Now I changed that part to: Use Specific settings and entered again my credentials to my gMail account. Actually useless as it is being the same for receiving. Also I activated Require secure authentication. That part didn't work. What is it for? How to use it? Does it make sense for me? -- best regards | Using The Bat! 5.0.20.1 Eddie | on Windows XP 5.1 | Build 2600 Service Pack 3 Current beta is 5.0.22.1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Require secure authentication force to use CRAM-MD5 to avoid passing password in plain text to the server, but since you are using TLS, there is no problem of passing the password to the server. -- Best regards, Maximmailto:m...@ritlabs.com Current beta is 5.0.22.1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
