Alpha 5 solved this issue. Thanks for the registration key, too!

unfortunately not: upon analyzing, a window comes up that seems to contain
quite a few invisible options (note the last markable row and the scroll bar)
  https://paste.pics/6WAVY
and on closing, an "invalid pointer operation" notification window pops up.
The first report of this was from Dimitar Tomov from "Sunday, October 6, 2019,
3:01:59 AM" in
the 9.0.0.5 thread.

Is there exceptions log (thebat64_Exceptions.log or thebat32_Exceptions.log)
written?

If it is written, sent it to me.

If it is not written, run The Bat! with /STARTUP_TIMING_LOG command line
parameter and send me the ex_log.txt file, so maybe we will be able to see at
which point it stops.

To me that looks like the Original Text pane - when I click Reply, the
pane also takes a moment before it appears, and the lack of bottom
notch on the scrollbar suggests that it's extended below the bottom
edge of the window (that this is possible is definitely a bug).

Does anything happen if you toggle the "Original text" option in the
View menu?

Check if the original message pane is stretched all the way to the
bottom (it may even extend below the bottom edge of the window - try
maximizing it if you can't see the draggable splitter). You can also
try to hide the original message pane through View → Original text.

i have now tested OTFE under Windows 7, both versions 32&64bit show the same

as without OTFE. The splash appears and then the program is terminated
immediately.
The 32bit version continues to run in the background.

But, the TheBat! does not start (no OTFE).

The Assistant, the Assignment Window, and the Splash screen appear.
After that the program will be terminated immediately. Tested wit 32bit & 64bit.

In addition, the 32bit version continues to run as a dead process in the
background.
The behavior is identical under Windows 7 and under Windows 10.
