An Electronic Message from Ethan J. Mings on 02/04/2006 at 6:59 PM I'm not sure what to do so I thought I would post this information here in the forum and take your advice on next steps.
My client recently upgraded from a previous version 3.x of The Bat to latest release version found on the downloads of the RIT Site. What happened next is very strange. First, none of the original paths where honored on the install. Second, the install simply made a new address book path coupled with a new directory for mail folders. Third, all of the templates were lost. Finally, restore from back up simply did not work to address the problem. We were able to restore previous mail folders by reconstructing the correct path and folder for the mail. (We had a copy of the folders and address books on a non Bat back up disk. As for the templates, we could never find them. Question: I know we test the bat MSI installer. I don't remember ever seeing reports of complete lost of folders, templates and address books. If so, does any one have suggestions on resolution. Again, this may well be outside the beta forum. If you want to write back to me directly with some advice, I would appreciate it. Also, if you want to point me to some reading, I don't mind that either. My thanks in advance. -- Ethan J.
