Yes, it is WAD and has always been like that. The Total count is the
total number of messages in the tree, independently if they are unread
or read. The line is bolded because of the 1 unread.

If i change one Message in Parent Folder to unread and no other
Messages in the whole Tree are unread, i get the Message Count:
