Sadly it has made no difference, but thanks for the idea Thomas. If I 
disconnect the Remote Desktop session to the PC actually running TB, with TB 
still running normally on the remote PC,  when i next connect a Remote Desktop 
session TB just shows it's running folder maintenance, this won't cancel or 
close, and the progress bar is empty and never populates, let alone moves. Task 
Manager is the only fix, and TB then starts as if it were never running. 5.8.10 
never, ever did this, so it's something in later versions I am sure. It's 100 
percent repeatable. Can I log anything?

OK, I hadn’t seen those options, but I have un-ticked them now and will see if 
it cures the problem, thank you.
