Well, actually you're forgetting a few steps.
- you upload a picture
- that picture has to be approved by Marck ore me (I did that)
- you get a message from the site that a new set is ready (should have happened
by now)
- you download the new rogues.zip and extract it in your images folder
- you insert the x-rogues header in your messages
- you can see yourself

Inserting the x-rogues header isn't difficult, but it should be done
correctly. Here is the howto as Marck always places in the monthly
messages.

,- [ ]
| How to create the X-Rogue: header
| You can do that with this macro:
| %SetHeader('X-Rogue',':your_handle:')%- in your templates for
| this and other tb-lists.
| However, the macro alone won't do the trick.
| TB'll say: 'Hey, that's not any RFC822 header I know about', so
| you'll have to define it as such:
| Options .. Preferences .. Messages .. Message headers .. 'Add'
|
| Now you'll get a pop-up to define the header
|
| Display as: X-Rogue (or whatever, it isn't very important)
| RFC header: X-Rogue
| Uncheck: 'This field is an address list' (because it isn't)
| Check: 'Allow this field to be edited in the message editor'
| Uncheck: 'Display this field in the scrollable part of the
| header pane'
|
| Now you're done and every TB-user can see your lovable face when
| they've installed the roguemoticons.

And?

 - It only works in 1 of the viewing modes of TB! - one I don't

Me too. I am not using the RTFV and I don't want to. But I also don't
want to necessarily see the images (or the smileys, come to think of
it). Others may want to see me - one case I know for sure -, so they
got their way.

 - It isn't based on any form of standard supported anywhere and it is
only understandable by this (and future?) versions of The Bat, hence
its applicability to the majority of current and future users is tiny.

And?

 - It's taking time and bandwidth in a beta support forum discussing
all these not required features. (I'd be happy if it was in either TECH
 or OT)

Valid point, said so myself. OTOH, if you don't want to read the
smileys/rogues messages, just skip or filter them. AFAIK, the list has
not a limit policy, meaning that for every rogues' message another
(perhaps more important) one cannot be transmitted. Like: Only 300
messages per week ...

Em, that was the point. That the only difference between a message
showing a Rogues Smiley and one that does not, is 3 bytes. Those three
bytes attributes to the : _ : that are different in my Rogues sig and
my non-Rogues sig.

I don't see where it was cheating if that was the exact point I was
trying to convey.

Technically, I didn't have to force people to use the : _ : in their
Rogues Smiley handle. I could have let them just use their normal sig
name, and then there would be *absolutely* no difference whatsoever
in message size.

However, we've discovered it to be poor practice to not make the
Rogues Smiley handle unique (i.e. the whole (c) Copyright being
replaced by a coffee cup.)
