We will try to make a small isolated piece of code that reproduces the issue
and if we succeed will submit it to the developers of Delphi. We have submitted
several bugs them already during past years, most of them now fixed. At the
moment, their bug tracker https://qc.embarcadero.com/ does not seem to work.

Well, then I am very curious which new features are planned in v9. :-)

In contrast to some others here, I don't have problems at the moment
with The Bat, which runs in a live situation. Admittedly, I may not
use the program onto its limits - in my daily situation I've no need
for that.

> 8.8.9 also does not let me send OpenPGP signed messages as described for

We have figured out that the bug was in 64-bit Delphi compiler which produced
wrong code when a variable of ShortString type was passed by value rather then
by reference. See more on "value" vs "reference" on
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/373419/whats-the-difference-between-passing-by-reference-vs-passing-by-value

So the 32-bit version of The Bat! did not have the bug with OpenPGP signed
messages. We have re-writted relevant code in The Bat! to mitigate the compiler
bug. However, we are now working on version 9 and will unlikely publish a new
beta or release soon. So I'd suggest to use 32-bit version of The Bat! in the
meanwhile.

Hello Maxim,

With this version of TB I've discovered that, as the Subject says,
SmartSpace reading does not work with *some* HTML messages, it does
not mark the message as read and does not jump to next unread. I tried
with previous beta (8.8.2.8) end behaviour is the same. So, I don't
really know when the bug/problem was introduced.

Actually, it is quite annoying. I have four messages from PayPal, all
"Content-Type: multipart/alternative", and when the HTML tab is
selected, SmartSpace works as expected with two (and only two) of the
four messages, and does nothing with the other two. When the text tab
is selected it works as expected with the four messages.

Has anybody else noticed a similar behaviour? If so, I will open a BT
report.

BTW, I can send the four messages from PayPal to anyone willing to
investigate further.

No reg key required, and U On a side note, TB! was the first
program I updated since upgrading from Win7 to Win10, so this is a
pleasant experience.

From the changelog:

[-] 0001703: The system's HTML viewer rendered some messages huge

Better now, at least the pictures that are shown fit the screen now.
They are still a lot bigger than they are when you external viewer.

[-] 0001721: HTML messages from PayPal were not entirely rendered by
the internal HTML viewer

I don't use Paypal, but this may be related to the old bug
https://bt.ritlabs.com/view.php?id=1479 which remains labeled as
"New".

When I start the installation (as Admin), I see a dialogue that my licence
would not be valid for this version 8.8.9, and that the installation would run
as test. I cancelled the installation.

I mentioned that I tried the install as Admin — normally I install from my
simple user account, and enter the Admin password when asked for it, but since
some time, installations are interrupted before asking for Admin password with
a dialogue, in the case of TheBat 8.8.9 after the begin of the actual
installation, with "Windows Installer" in the Window title, and this text (in
German): "Der Systemadministrator hat Richtlinien erlassen, um diese
Installation zu verhindern" (my translation to english: "The system
administrator has established rules to prevent this installation".

Well, the system admin is me. I have never declared such a rule, and not
changed the rules.

This works, but I am still unable to use it. As previously reported
here:

8.8.9 also does not let me send OpenPGP signed messages as described
for 8.8.2.8

This report remains unconfirmed so not in the BugTraq system.

Can anyone confirm / suggest how my configuration may be at fault?
