The Bat! Beta

2018-06-25 Thread Maxim Masiutin
Hello Tbbeta,

This The Bat! Beta doesn't support any TLS 1.2 cipher with SHA-384.

But it supports hardware implementation of AES, SHA-256 and SHA-1, depending on
the capabilities of the CPU on which you run The Bat!

I have only tested interoperability of The Bat! TLS 1.2 with OpenSSL and
gmail.com and fastmail.fm. Could you please test more? Unfortunately, The Bat!
doesn't currently log which cipher suite (let alone version) it did select for
a TLS connection.

There is already an off function, although not working 100%. If you go
to the Inbox Analyzer, under 'Accounts to analyze' there is a button
that, as its name suggests, allows you to select which accounts you want to
analyze. If I say it doesn't work 100% is because if you unselect all
accounts (3 in my case), this does not stick and all 3 accounts appear
again as selected. However, if I unselect all accounts but one, the
selection sticks even after a restart.

Maybe RIT would consider in the future having a off on function for this

I find the filter feature has all the power I need for the work I do.

It seems to depend on OTFE or Plain. I found that I could simply

Confirmed.

My search in both a text and subject string (of 5 words plus numbers)

Nice to see you! :)

I don't mind the one-time splash/dialogue screen at all. But some said
that it was happening for them every time, and I can see how that
could be a slight annoyance.

PMFJI but this really is getting a bit petty. There are plenty of other
programmes that, when downloaded in a beta version, have the same
dialogue box that asks you to confirm whether you want to install it or
not.

It only happens the once so is it really all that important and do you,
in all seriousness, think that it's so drastic when the developers
didn't mention that a dialogue box of this nature would appear? It seems
perfectly natural to me and totally harmless.

Anyway I thought you'd decided to leave beta testing in a huff earlier

He posted, defending himself, that they are. Said he was off work with
some problems in an illness, including some perceptual and memory
problems.

TBUDL mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have some sympathy for him. I had a very hard time trying to set up
TB! for a dial-up network with one of my ISPs. We worked for days--and
this guy *knew* and used The Bat!--before I finally got the correct
numbers in the right format for POP3 and SMTP.

And it took Paul Cartwright over a week to make me understand how to
set up for Broadband with comcast.net.

Comcast simply shrugged its shoulders at me. "Never heard of The Bat!
Why don't you use Outlook Express? We can help you with that." grr

The "grr" isn't for you, Vili. It's for ignorant ISPs.

I'm CCing this to TBOT. Getting a bit more than SOT, I think. :)

Here's a post that contains quotes of most of the replies in regard to
its first appearance:

mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

The thread begins with 9Val's announcement of beta 3.62.13:

mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

9Val's announcement does not mention the box asking if you are sure
you want to run a beta.

And my search did not turn up any comment from the developers on the
queries about this.

On a brighter note: Search (unencrypted messages) is noticeably faster

Okay. But it *was* TBUDL, where the simple questions belong. Sometimes
there's more background than at first appears. As with the graphics
problem here on TBBETA, which *could* have been addressed in beta
3.63.05 and inadvertently left off the list of changes.

Thanks for your note. I hope the graphics problem will be fixed soon.

I was amazed at the long list of bug fixes and the IMAP update.

Welcome changes.

I suspect the graphics changes will be in the near future.

Testing the new beta now.

In addition to the fact that all questions are always welcome on TB!
lists--and the only lazy thing would be *not* to ask the
question--there's the fact that frequently a change is not put into
the change list by the developers when they announce a new beta.

It was a very good question. I hope Maxim will answer it.

Actually, I discovered that a handful of folders had their

usage is normal again.

I'm impressed with the new IMAP queue so far.

As for CPU spikes, I have 3ghz AMD64 processor and BOINC runing all

Unfortunately, I cannot run this version after replacing 3.62.14. The Bat!
starts, requires OTFE pasword, displays message about beta version and ends
immediately with Windows error message (without AV). I also tried to run

I simply unpacked the zip using WinRar--commanded WinRar to extract to
my folder The Bat!

I didn't back-up and restore any settings.

In fact--threw caution to the winds. Set a restore point in XP and
then installed 3.63.05 directly over 3.62.14.

For some reason, I had to do a backup of my account settings and then
restore them in this version. That's something I've never had to do

Also, when the IMAP queue is active, the CPU spikes.
