I was thinking of constructing a template that inserted a
snip at the beginning of selected text a \snip at the end
of selected text when used with F4.
I assume that's possible... right?

have nothing for detecting used method

Ok, I'm in the home stretch here now with templates. I have one last
question and I should be good to go.
