Dear TBUDL members, On booting up on Sunday afternoon, I was unable to get The Bat! to start, whether from the keyboard link or via the Program Files folder. The initial 'splash screen' showed, but seemed to stick, and Task Manager showed the program as not responding. I tried restarting Windows XP, and was again told TB wasn't responding. However, while I sat wondering what to do, The Bat! did eventually start. I got the impression that things generally were running slow.
Before closing down for the night, I shut TB and opened it again - or tried to: it wouldn't. I stopped it, using Task Manager, and went on to do my differential backup. This showed Back Up My PC running slow: the file estimate stage usually takes 2 minutes, but I stopped it after 6 only about half way there. I decided to restart Windows: this worked, but showed problems ending XPCOM, the event recorder. When I did restart, I was able to do the backup at usual speed. I then tried TB again - with it not responding as before. I closed down for the night, but again got the XPCOM not responding. On Monday, I decided to put the computer on and do a full virus scan with AVG. After 50 minutes that reported no problems. Ad-Aware revealed 9 data miners, much as usual, and I deleted them all. Nervously, I then tried TB - which opened at its proper speed, so I was able to type this report. I don't think I'll risk closing and restarting it yet, though. Any help and/or advice appreciated! -- Eric Using TB! v3.71.03 on Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 ________________________________________________ Current version is 3.80.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
