I had an idea and tried it. The message file looks almost like a unix
format file, so I tried editing it to make it look like a unix file. I
removed the initial binary header which is long, and the later headers
which are smaller and all the same size. I added a fake From line at
the top of each message to conform to the unix format, and it DID
import successfully! I now am able to see ALL the messages again! They
don't have the index info to go with them, but at least I can see
them. I still don't know what might have happened to make them
'invisible' even though they were in the file. A rather brute force
'undelete', but it did work :-).
