Like you, I only became aware of the power of RE's very recently.  And
again like you, Peter was kind enough to come up with a solution to
one of my questions.  From what I can gather from previous threads,
while very powerful RE's take alot of practice to fully grasp the
concept.  From my own experience it's worth it.

After realizing the potential of RE's I went out and bought a wonderful
book on them called "Mastering Regular Expressions".  The book uses
alot of examples and is very well written.  I would highly recommend
it to anyone who is interested in learning how to tap the power of
RE's
