Just  to round the thread off, I brought the thread to the TBOT list
(as advised by Jamie Dainton) where the riddle was solved. I updated
the AVG plug-in for TB from

ftp://ftp.gin.cz/pub/mswindows/the_bat/plugins/antivirus/avgbat10us.exe

and  the  problem  was  solved  . No Grisoft trick at all, but their
directions seem not to be complete.
