Signature.asc attachment file

Can I ask please, why is it that Jakob's PGP signature comes as an attachment file (signature.asc)- rather than inline as do Marck's, Allie's etc? I've not seen these .asc files before so would be interested to know more about them. Thanks! -- Cheers, Anne Using The Bat! v1.61 on Windows
