 Re: BETA (was: 4.0.0.19)

Good idea! - My favorite news client (40tude Dialog) does so, too:
If you edit the subject line of a reply the client sets the original
 subject in brackets like above.

I found a (quite good) solution for this problem:

a) Semiautomatic

- Create a Quicktemplate and (out of convenience) assign a shortcut:

  %If:%Subj%OSubj:%Subject='Re: %Subj (was: %OSubj)':%Subj

- Reply to a message and edit the Subject line
- Hit Shortcut
- Be happy! :-)

b) Automatic

- Include the macros in your reply template:

  %If:%Subj%OSubj:%Subject='Re: %Subj (was: %OSubj)':%Subj

- Reply to a message and edit the Subject line
- Be happy! :-)

Pro solution a):

You can run the QT at any time even if the textbody of the new message
is already modified.

Pro solution b):

The macros run really automatically! :-) But there are two
limitations:

1. The template must not contain the macro: %ModifyOnce(Subject)
2. The textbody must *not* be modified *before* you change the subject
   line.

Maybe some of you like this solution, too. ;-)

It would take me longer to look at the QT to remind myself of the

The macros run really automatically! :-) But there are
 two limitations:

 1. The template must not contain the macro:

I don't imagine that is too onerous.

 2. The textbody must *not* be

That would probably kill it for me - unless the thread was already not
related to the subject line, I would only decide to change it if my
contribution took it in a different direction. I would decide this was
the case after reading what I had typed...

Maybe some of you like this solution, too. ;-)

GnuPG - where do my keys need to be?

2009-07-30 Thread Carren Stuart

Hello

I've installed GnuPG and GnuPG Shell as the front-end but I cannot get it to
work with TB. I've created my keys which I can see in the key manager, but when
I try to sign/encrypt an email I get a no secret key found message (or words
to that effect).

When I created the keys they defaulted to Documents and
Settings\username\application date\gnupg - I pointed TB to that directory but
it makes no difference.

Can someone give me a walk through with this? I'm not new to PGP/GnuPG so I
should be able to do this - it's driving me nuts!

This isn't going to help you, but I tried to install it to take a look but
I'm afraid the GnuPG Shell installer doesn't find my GnuPG folder, even
though there's an entry for it in the registry. Tried all sorts but no joy,
so sorry, can't help you.

If you're interested, the best (only IMO of course) Windows front end for
GnuPG and the one I use is Windows Privacy Tray v 1.41.

http://wald.intevation.org/frs/?group_id=14

If you've already tried WinPT and didn't like it sorry for suggesting it
again. I found it to be the best of a very limited number. Easy to use and
you can manually set paths to gpg.exe and your keys as well.

Having been a PGP user for years and years this was the only combo I could
stick with.

Well I'm glad it wasn't just me who couldn't get GnuPG Shell to work. I've
un-installed it and started fresh with WinPT, but I'm having a similar problem.

As I said, my keys were saved by default (when I installed GnuPG) to Documents

that via OpenPGP - Preferences- Files, but I'm still getting the secret key

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've used PGP/GnuPG for years under
both Windows and Linux and I've never had this much trouble getting it to work
