Moving Messages from full window view

2003-08-01 Thread Christian Rausche
Hi there,

I often read new e-mails in full screen view and would like to move
them to the appropriate folder. The only way to do this I found is
using Message|move to folder.

Is there an easier way to do this, like adding a button to the toolbar
or assigning a shortcut to the function?

Pop mail

2003-08-01 Thread ETM (State of Virginia)
I have been successful in downloading mail from safe-mail but
unable to send. I am able to Pop3 download and send via
yahoo. After contacting the techs at safe-mail they advised:

Another customer of us has difficulties sending from TheBat, but
finally he configured successfully.

You should use the following configuration:

Outgoing mail server: www.safe-mail.net
This server requires secure communication: On
Port: 465
This server requires authentication: On
User name: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Password: You safe-mail account's password.

But it isn't working. I am hoping the person who was successful
is on the list and that he and others have some additional
suggestions that will help me get this working.

There are tonnes of them -- have a look around for power

AAG trans2k DON'T see mail ticker as RUNNING application.

Same applies to PowerMenu.. there is no window (aka system) menu for

Secure POP3?

Does anyone use TB! for retrieving messages from server with POP3 and
secure connection (STARTLS)?

Both secure to regular and dedicated port end up with this:

===8===[ Begin paste ]=
 31/07/2003, 13:44:18: FETCH - receiving mail messages
!31/07/2003, 13:44:19: FETCH - Server reports error. The response
is: -ERR authorization first
===8[ End paste ]==

On the same server, with same settings, secure connection works for
IMAP. I've tried messing with authorization options, but it didn't
help. Why is that log so brief, it doesn't even report connecting to
server or anything (with IMAP it's full of information)?

Have you looked at the mess that API MS has created there?
GetTimeZoneInformation only returns information about the current
system time. In order to generalize about the offset for a given
location and time you first have to call the API to determine whether
or not DST is honored, then look up the offset if it is. Then, on your
own (no API calls available for this), you need to determine if the
date in question is within the DST period, and finally apply the
offset.

The other way around it would be to set your system time temporarily
to the date in question, call the API, and restore the system time.
I've actually seen code that uses this approach.

Configure TB to run NAV 2003 in conjunction with Spampal

2003-08-01 Thread Bareges

Good Evening,

As the very first post ever I apologise if I don't get it right.

I would very much appreciate guidance on how I configure TB to run
Norton AV 2003 whilst using Spampal.
For those not familar with Spampal [ free spam killer app ] it sits
between your email client and the Net and intercepts all traffic and
using bayesian plugins it sorts out the Spam. I have had an email
spoofed 2x in past 6mths and am therefore loathe to run email client
without AV capability.
Back to the point, Spampal requires 'MailServer' to be set to
'LocalHost' and 'User' to be set as follows in my case:
CharlesDWOsullivan//[EMAIL PROTECTED]. What I can't
resolve is how I incorporate the pop3.norton.antivirus that appears
from my searching to be required for TB to activate AV.

All help much appreciated.

You don't need to. Norton scans email at the port level, so does it
irrespective of the client email settings. If you send or receive mail
and AntiVirus is enabled to scan mail, you will see the scan window
appear.

Older versions of AntiVirus required you to use AntiVirus as an email
proxy, but not any longer.

It's just that nowadays STARTTLS has become more widespread. Have a

The incoming mail is absolutely no problem, downloads right into

That's likely because of the editor settings, though she really should
be able to delete text using the delete key, even if the option
'Persistent blocks' is enabled.

To make the editor behave in a standard way, go into the editor

IMAPS is not implemented in 1.62 version yet, but fully implemented in
2.0 version, tested with Batpost and Fastmail.fm today :-) Don't ask
me, when will be final version of 2.0, first beta will be released for
betatesters very soon.

Hmmm...its on the Message drop-down menu - it says Move to
folder...F12.

Ah, I just played with it changed it to F10. Now it says Move to
folder...F10. I never knew the menus changed to follow your shortcut
edits - cool :-)

Anyway, if it's a shortcut someone wants, it's an easy thing to make -
Christian, have you worked it out?

it works for me, but please don't discuss problems with this or with
other alpha/beta version here in TBUDL, betaversions can be discussed
in TBBETA or You can contact me privately. Version 2.0 introduces
changes in accounts and I recommend to wait for Stefan's announcement
with described changes and plans for next betaversions.

The help file doesn't have too much to say about this. Any clue about
the format of the commands in the text file? Are these standard DOS
commands? TB command line arguments? Is that 10-second thing
documented anywhere?

 It is a standard port.

Ah - I stand corrected. Actually, it is not in my list of standard
ports, but then, my list is a few years old. Where can I get an
updated list?

It's just that nowadays STARTTLS has become more widespread. Have a
 copy of Outlook Express handy?

No, I never installed it. The Install Wizzard opens in Chinese...

When selecting to secure the communication, it uses STARTTLS if you
enter Port 25 for the SMTP server. Any other port will make OE use
SMTPS, which means that the entire connection is SSLed, including
 greeting etc...

Then the settings I suggested to Elaine should be correct.
