If I try to move focus to TheBat from another application by any means
other than clicking on the taskbar icon, TheBat becomes the active
application (taking keyboard input etc) but this is not reflected in
the taskbar icon status. The previous application's icon remains
inverted.

SC If you are referring to the URL manager then you can disable it entirely or
call
SC it up as needed.

More likely, that you have to view a HTML Mail to make it appear.
The other way is to customize the Toolbar and set up the Icon
yourself.
