Next time, you can go to the mail folder in your TheBat directory,
find the account, and delete the *.tbi file. (While The BAt is
closed.) This is the index file which contains flags such as "read" or
"marked" and also contains the message count.

Next time you open TheBat, a new index file will be created
automtically.

You can use a Folder template - doing so is dangerous as it overrides
other templates, but here it is from the (antiquated) help file

SETEDITOR="n"
 Sets the current editor mode

Possible values for n:

1 - Plain text Microed

2 - Plain text Windows editor

3 - HTML / Plain

4 - HTML only

Perhaps someone can come up with a better answer

Automatic selection of viewer per folder

2012-03-03 Thread Bill McQuillan
Does anybody know of a mechanism by which I can designate the
viewer preference for each folder rather than all of TB?

That is - I have my preferences set on "View HTML messages
using:" and also "View messages with alternative layout (Text and
HTML) as:" both set to: "HTML and Plain Text version" (show HTML
first but also have a tab for plain text).

After my incoming messages have been sorted to particular folders
I find that the messages in SOME folders would be better handled
by the setting: "Plain Text Version and HTML" (thus initially
showing the plain text view but allowing me to switch tabs to
HTML where needed). As it is, I find myself switching to the
plain text view quite often in these particular folders and I
would like to cut down on that if possible.

I looked at the capabilities with macros, but even if the state
could be changed, macros only seem to be useful during composing
a new message.

Thanks in Advance,

I just emptied it from the menu and things now seem to be working again.

How to clear Inbox folder?

2012-03-03 Thread Jim Kyle
Hello Bats!,

I've apparently got a damaged inbox; it shows one unread message but
nothing will display. Can someone tell me how to empty the folder without
having to totally remove the account? Thanks!

AFAIK TB has no Out of Office Replies
However, it's not that difficult to create one with a filter.
And if you compare the sender's address against an address book group,
you can set the lists that don't need a message.
And when you add the recipients of your out of office replies to that
address book group, they won't be getting multiple replies.
And when you get back you need to disable the filter.

But this means that you've got to keep your computer (and TB) running
while you're away. Is that what you want? An out of office reply
should be handled by the server, whether it's run by your ISP, your
boss or yourself.

While you can create a filter that would send out-of-office replies,
this would require you to leave The Bat running while you're away.
Out-of-office (vacation) autoreplies are usually handled by the
server, so you should check if your provider offers that.
