Not a lot as far as I noticed - it hangs TheBat! for me either way,
too.

The window split mode it is. If you have already tried restarting
The Bat! and even rebooting the computer, I would suspect a corrupt
 registry entry.

I was afraid of that - will try to find time to reinstall - maybe next
year! (kidding ;-) )

Preview pane - out of sight or missing

2008-06-13 Thread Brigitte Conrad
Hello all,

I've been using The Bat! and loving it for years - pretty much
never post anything here due to time constraints but have rarely
had issues - something puzzling has come up - and it's definitely
impacting my workflow since I read mail almost exclusively in the
preview pane. I've searched my own message archive from this list,
hunted through my menus and preferences, and Googled (admittedly
not in-depth) - and have come up with nothing.

I'm running The Bat! v 4.024 on 64-bit Vista. One thing I noticed
is that when saving attachments, it often hangs if I try to Save
to ... and navigate to a particular location; this is only a minor
annoyance since I usually just drag the file out and that has
worked well for me. However, I have forgotten on occasion - and on
return from one of those crashes, my preview pane has disappeared.
I've tried switching between window split modes, fiddled with
prefs, hunted all around the edges of the pane for a spot to drag
it back, deleted tbuser.def in the mail directory and restarted The
Bat! - nothing worked. I know I'm missing something ... any ideas?

gesture of performance, translation, and understanding. The gesture
need not be permanent, a lasting posture of the mind or heart; yet it
is not false. It is more than the suspension of disbelief needed to
watch a play, yet less than a conversion. It is a position, a posture

Hello Thomas,

To put it bluntly - S*x!

TF I can't believe this went past the moderators.

TF How about gender? ;-)

What's *really* funny, is that the original Sex made it through, but
with S*x it ended up being tagged as junk by my Bayesian plugin.

May I have permission to use this list of rules in communicating

I'll chime in with a me too here ... that was *exactly* what I was
experiencing ... but not any more.

This began as soon as I installed the Christmas edition and I was
getting pretty frustrated at having to 3-finger-salute to close
TheBat! ... was close to posting about it, not having had any of the
other difficulties with the version that some folks mentioned. I
wasn't sure whether it was the one IMAP account I was connected to on
a nearly constant basis, or something else (except for filtering, IMAP
is working acceptably for me, though if I could filter mail I want to
keep to local folders and delete it from the server in one fell swoop
it would be better) ... ummm, sorry, that was an aside.

However, I knew that I'm using a Win98 machine that is extremely
over-extended in the amount of software installed on it (most of which
I need) and finally took some time to uninstall the few programs I no
longer required, run Ad-Aware (Lavasoft ... only found 1 nasty) and
then do a thorough registry cleanup.

The reg cleanup seems to have done it ... after doing that, the
problem disappeared.
