Re[2]: Unread messages sorting

2002-06-28 Thread Mitja Perko

Hello Thomas,

 What is sorted by unread?
There is a column Unread messages. With sorted by unread I thought
sorting on that column.

This allows me to see all threads that have changes quickly.

Unread messages sorting

2002-06-27 Thread Mitja Perko

Hi!

I am wondering why if I have set sort by unread messages and I receive
messages they are not sorted by unread. You have to reselect sorting
by unread messages to actually sort it or I usually press CTRL-0 to
change sort order. Is the sorting only a one time sort and does not
sort the newly added messages? In this case I think that the arrow on the
column should disappear.

Local delivery problem

2002-06-16 Thread Mitja Perko

Hi!

I am having the following problem. If I have local delivery enabled
and I create in account2 two messages to be sent to account1 later and
then send them both at the same time only one arrives. Does anyone
else experience this?

I am using this for filtering all my mail to single account. One
solution I found to work is to use redirect with immediate delivery,
but it looks strange when in connection centre 30 or so tasks appear.

Should I report this as bug? Does anyone else have a better solution
for doing this?

Hello Marck,

Will there be a feature to ignore by default, but load on request by
let say clicking on the image while holding shift or something like
that?

--
Best regards,

Sorry to confuse. There will be a global ignore all option (don't
even *think* about downloading) but if you want to see them at all,
you'll have to manually verify each image.

Re[3]: New HTML engine?

2002-06-12 Thread Mitja Perko

Hello Kurgan,

Oh, and I use Incredimail for the fun stuff
it can do, in case you were wondering about my mental health. :)
Hey, it *does* have some pretty nifty features.

I only know it can do pretty fancy emails (I received a couple of
them and liked them).

BTW: I solved most if not all of the virus problem by filtering mail
and looking for:
_*name=*.vbs
_*name=*.scr
_*name=*.pif
_*name=*.bat
*Content-type: audio/x-wav; name=*.exe*
*Content-type: audio/x-midi; name=*.exe*

Although this filter could be a problem if someone is actually
receiving this types (.vbs ...) normally (I do not).

Virus filtering

2002-06-12 Thread Mitja Perko

Hello Daniel,

That's interesting! I entered these strings but it didn't work. I went
to the Sorting Office/Filters and I defined a new filter. I entered
the first string (the one for vbs files) under Filter Strings and the
other 5 strings as separate rule sets under the Alternatives tab. For
Location I picked anywhere (I also tried Kludges). Under options,
I enabled regular expressions. But it didn't work. Any ideas??
I did not mention that filtering was not done by TB! but by
SpamWeasel which I use for filtering spam. Sorry. Although something
similar could probably be done in TB!.

Re[2]: New HTML engine?

2002-06-11 Thread Mitja Perko

Hello Marck,

It will never be there in that form. It's just too dangerous. I
understand that support for retrieving non-sent images will be added
at some point *BUT* it will only get one image at a time and prompt
for permission for *each* image. This is because not all images *are*
 images.
What is the problem with that? If they are not images you display
nothing.

You detect by extension which image it should be, try to display it if
you can, otherwise leave it alone.

Re[2]: New HTML engine?

2002-06-11 Thread Mitja Perko

Hello Jernej,

That's not the problem. The problem is, that these images can be used
for tracking - spammer can embed such image in text (with unique ID),
and if the server gets the request for that image ID, it can confirm
that the message was read - that the e-mail address exists. There are
also other uses - eg. YahooGroups uses such images for advertizing,
and every time you open the message with such inline image you get
 different AD...

Thank you for clarification. I understand the problem now.

Maybe one could have an icon to click and the images would get loaded.
Or even filter enabling/disabling loading. I currently miss images,
because I am subscribed to a newsletter that contains images. Now I
usually go online when I receive the message to read it because of that.

Re[3]: New HTML engine?

2002-06-11 Thread Mitja Perko

Hello Mitja,

Plus you have the issue that image files may not always be what they
say they are... there are a lot of viruses floating about running
under the .jpg or .gif file extension... last thing you want is for
TB! to wander off, download and execute an image from an infected site
 ;)

Well, maybe not. As I understand it, the extension says
it's a graphic, but it functions as a worm.
This is wrong belief to my knowledge. You do not go executing images.
You read them and try to display them. If format is not right then
component for reading the image will report it and you will skip the image.
Images must have a valid header and data format.
The thing is the same as with phrase TB! is not engine but renderer.
You also only render images.

Also one can send you html with attached images (which are in fact
scripts) right now and nothing is wrong. Here we are only talking about
downloading images if they are not attached.

You realize of course that when TB shows on-line images, you'll need
to go on-line too. It's just that it's now a conscious decision,
whereas otherwise it would be an automatic connection.
Hmm.. I thought the images get cached. At least Netscape mail did
this. This is quite nice since you do not need to go online to view the
html with images. Although I forgot if caching was until the browser
was closed or longer.

Sounds like you need a dedicated spam filtering system of which many

Hi,

I am just begining to use thread view and have one question. Is there
a way to park or delete the whole thread and not just the first
message. How exactly are you using The Bat to read this list?

I have set it to thread view and wanted to park the messages I want to
keep and delete the others. Or at least mark the messages read but I
also cannot do it without expanding all messages.

Also is there a way to mark a thread with a sort of an ignore mark
(like in the NewsAgent)? So you skip the new messages that belong to
threads that you are not interested in.
