Hello, the Bat! list recipients, Wednesday, September 20, 2000, Ming-Li wrote to Oleg Zalyalov on TBUDL about Keyboard shortcuts (was: Odd behavioural complaints? [was: Re: Deleting messages and spacebarring through 'em]): ML I consider myself a keyboard person, and enjoy many of the keyboard ML shortcuts, if available. But I like mouse, too. I read email in my ML leisure time. With a cup of tea in one hand, leaning back ML comfortably in my chair, feet on desk or another chair even, So do I. ML mouse is more convenient. For you. I use keyboard. ML Then there's the problem of having to remember the shortcuts. I can ML remember only so many of them, even for a program I use very often ML like TB. It wastes even more time if I have to look them up in a ML table, and it waste more (physical) desktop estate to have a (hard) ML copy of TB's shortcut lists at the side. Yes. But. You can start learning them step-by-step. When you take your look away from monitor for relaxing (you have to do it for the sake of your eyes) look through the list of shortcuts and choose the one you will benefit the most from learning. And start using it. Don't try to use next until your hand completely learn it. You will gain great power rather quickly. ML The bottom line is: keyboard may be more efficient (in general), but ML toolbar, along with many other UI enhancements, is more convenient ML and easier to learn (also in general). Every user has his/her ML preferences and habits. As Thomas said, I like having the choices. Power user / common user. Keyboard is more efficient for power user, toolbar is more convenient for common user. From time to time, I find new users get beaten up on this list for ML requesting features that TB lacks (proportional fonts, sending html ML mail, ¡K etc.). While I understand the logic behind these designs, ML and agree with many of them, I fail to see why users can't have ML their choices. They can have their choices -- they can choose OE or everything else. ML It's true it takes time to implement those features, It's take not only time, it will take the power and efficiency of TB! as a MUA. -- Best regards, Oleg Zalyalov. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! version 1.46c under Windows NT 4.0 Build 1381 Service Pack 6 -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

Hello, the Bat! list recipients, Friday, September 01, 2000, Michael Richter wrote to Oleg Zalyalov about External processing of TB files?: MR How can i reimport the modified message automaticly ? My Batch-File MR for removing the egroups-adv works fine, but the only way i see to MR bring back the message is manual import. Found in TB! help file ---8- /IMPORT command allows batch importing of e-mail messages into a specified folder from multiple RFC-822 message files or from UNIX mailbox files. The syntax of /IMPORT command is: /IMPORT[parameter1[;parameter2[;parameter3[...]]] Possible parameters are (parameter may be identified by two or more names): USER=value or U=value - the value is the name of the destination account. If no FOLDER parameter is specified, the destination folder will be Inbox of the given account. PASSWORD=value or P=value - the value is the password which will unlock the account if it is needed. FOLDER=value or F=value - the value is the destination folders pathname. If the pathname does not include account name, The Bat! will search all accounts for a folder with such name; the first folder found will be used as the destination folder. If the specified folder is not found, Inbox folder of the destination account is used. UNIX or X - this parameter tells The Bat! that input files are in UNIX mailbox format. By default, input files are treated as separate RFC-822 messages. READ or R - when this parameter is used, all imported messages will be marked as read. By default, all imported messages are marked unread. FILE=value or IN=value or INFILE=value or I=value - the value is a file mask with a pathname of input files. /IMPORT command can have unlimited number of FILE parameters. DELETE or DEL or W - if this parameter is specified, all processed files will be deleted after successful send of import operation. Examples of /IMPORT command: /IMPORTU=My account 1;FOLDER=Friends and relatives\Sam;IN=C:\InFiles\Sam\*.MSG /IMPORTF=\\My account 1\Business\Unsorted;UNIX;FILE=C:\InFiles\Unsorted\*.mbx;READ Notes: 1. To separate parameters, use semicolon (; character). Do not use spaces between parameters when use /IMPORT command as a command line parameter because a space-separated mask will be treated as the next command line parameter and will not be processed. 1. If a parameter value contains space characters, put it into quotation marks. If a value contains quotation marks, you should use upper commas ( character). ---8- -- Best regards, Oleg Zalyalov. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! version 1.45 under Windows NT 4.0 Build 1381 Service Pack 6 -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

Maybe something other in your template? :) No, it is something in my POP3 server. It changes message-IDs for incoming messages, so my replies has wrong in-reply-to field. That's why I can't use threading by reference at all, I have to use threading by subject. Server admins are acknowledged about this problem (last time I told to them about it about a year ago) but since there were no customer complaints about it and changing this behavior will somehow affect billing they do not plan to resolve it immediately. BTW if TB! could include in References field also content of X-Original-Message-ID field it all would be OK. -- Best regards, Oleg Zalyalov. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! version 1.42f under Windows NT 4.0 Build 1381 Service Pack 6 -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

It only causes problems if you really loop the quick J templates eg qt A includes qt B includes qt C includes qt B. That's what I J tried anyway. The result was a hang of TB, nothing more ;) Other than that J I believe it is save to use *qiinclude in qt's. You've been warned about it. Re[2]: Drag mail to the desktop perhaps?
Hello, the Bat! list recipients, Friday, February 25, 2000, Paula Ford wrote to Allie Martin about Drag mail to the desktop perhaps?: PF Yes, a way, but not real useful. The message files are automatically PF given names, First, where TB! should take the name? From subject, from author, from your thoughts about this message? To what do you want to change this behavior? Or you want TB! to ask you for name when exporting? I can imagine that for exporting a single message, but I don't think it will be good for exporting a batch of, say, 40 messages. PF like 0001.MSG, so you usually have to open each one, then PF rename the file or store it in a folder that lets you make some PF sense of them. Why want to store messages apart from message base? I usually use export just to make some changes that TB! doesn't allow to perform and to import back. So I don't care about filename at all. 0001.msg is just OK by me. PF Export also saves the entire kludge. That is exactly what export is designed to. PF For your message the kludge in an exported *msg file is 38 lines PF long, the message is only 18 lines, including all the trailers. :) PF If there's a way to change this behavior, please let me know. So you need not an export but Message/Save as... (Alt-F5). You want to save several messages at a time, but to have them in different files?
