Gordon,

GW My first sight of v.2 confirmed that I want to pay, but neither the
GW Register link nor the WWW home page link under the Help menu do any
GW good -- just a 404 not found error. Trying the web address in the help
GW file http://www.ritlabs.com/the_bat/ produced a Forbidden error!

Try www.ritlabs.com it has been completely revamped.

2003-09-02 Thread Christian Rausche
Hi,

AJ I've registered and upgrade to v2 (although it looks like I've been
AJ sent an Educational license) but can't download it.
Funny, me too. Maybe there is something wrong with their automatic key
generation.

AJ The following link from the Ritlabs website isn't working:

AJ http://download2.ritlabs.com/download/the_bat/the_bat.exe

AJ I've also tried downloading it from www.thebat.co.uk and
AJ ftp.ritlabs.com with no joy. Anybody know of any alternatives?
I may be able to send it to you if you like :-)

Message Count

2003-08-25 Thread Christian Rausche

is there a way to count all messages in the message bases and not just
one folder? I have tons of common folders and would like to know the
total number of messages.

TIA

Re: missing common folders

Ian,

IT I am using The Bat! v1.61. A funny thing happened the other day; all
IT of my common folders disappeared. The data is all still there, but
IT the folders have completely disappeared within The Bat!.
snip

IT Does anyone have any idea? Can I just recreate the folder and expect
IT everything to reappear if I specify the same directory for it, or will
IT all my messages go poof?
snip

Try Ctrl-Alt-Shift-L while in the Folderpane. That should do the
trick.

Moving Messages from full window view

2003-08-01 Thread Christian Rausche
Hi there,

I often read new e-mails in full screen view and would like to move
them to the appropriate folder. The only way to do this I found is
using Message|move to folder.

Is there an easier way to do this, like adding a button to the toolbar
or assigning a shortcut to the function?

Invisible E-Mail

2003-07-28 Thread Christian Rausche
Hi there!

I am still fighting the problem of invisible e-mails. Some E-Mails I
receive are automatically shown as an empty message in the HTML
viewer.

Switching to plain text I see a few words of the message, roundabout
50 characters, then it stops.

Any idea what's causing this or how this might be resolved?

No, I am not using popfile. I do use K9, but this problem exists even

Unreadable utf-8 e-mails

2003-07-23 Thread Christian Rausche
Hi there,

I often receive e-mails that are displayed as an empty HTML page in
TheBat. Checking with F9 I found that all these have the following
settings:
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

Unfortunately all I see when I switch the view window from HTML to
plain text are a few words of the e-mail.

In the XLAT Tables utf-8 is not present and I did not find a suitable
translation table on the web. According to TheBat history uft-8
support this should have been fixed in version 1.42

If I save the message.htm file and view it with a browser it is also
nearly empty, but if I forward the message to another e-mail client
and view the e-mail attachment there I can read the text.

Any help appreciated.
