That would be interesting, it is on a RAID 6. I do have an OS backup as well as
a backup from RegEdit of the correct tree.

Thanks I will have a go and see what happens. My method is much the same it
would go to message.old.0.tbn

Pulling up the correct address for a reply

2016-02-01 Thread David Elliott
Hello All,

Here is the situation

I have a catch all address on one of my domains.
I use a different address for each site that I visit e.g.

david.ar...@mydomain.com
david.123...@mydomain.com

When I hit reply I want this to be the sending address, but it has to work when
I am in the To: CC: and BCC: and when there are many in each list.

There are some things that that appears to be common across all messages. I
have highlighted them below from an email that I was BCC on.

I think I need a regex to pull out the address correctly.

It is in the registry.

 Reason:
after my computer ran in terrible hardware problems, it went back to the shop
and they tested it and replaced several hardware parts.
Unfortunately they also destroyed the operating system (Windows 8 Pro)at
my system disk and erased my second disk with all my data to install Linux for
 those tests.
Acronis was unable to restore a backup from an external harddisk.
The excuse from the company doesn't really help.

Through a repair disk I at least have access to the application and user files
and I already could find some reg keys, but not the one from The Bat.
Once I've found all keys from my software, I can setup the PC from scratch

I have just had to a crash repair, and did the following

Install TB!
Restore from a backup
Install key from mail.

I have in the past also copied the full reg keys and reloaded the mail files
into the correct place.

The URL is incorrect as it does not conform to RFC 1738. The two characters
that are not encoded but should be are [/] and [@]. They are reserved
characters and are being used out of there 'reserved character' context.

This is surprising, as it is a strength of TB! that URLs are not scrambled
and broken when longer than a line. However, I haven't received a long link
with a 4.2.x version, so something might be broken.

If it's not a confidential link, could you post it here?

This is what it should look like:

 Exactly!

I did use to have regEx for the automated backup that contained the day of the

I would like to find the regEx again as I have recently moved TB! to a new

Hello All,

I have been using TB! for years.

But now it has just stumped me.

This is a fresh install on a fresh install of Server 2003.

I have used the old mail directories as all my backups were corrupt. (I have
never successfully restored TB! from backups as I think they should be but
that is a different story)

I have the main window set to full height account tree. The pain in the top
right show the messages sorted by reference + subject.

I want to sort them by Received (Up arrow) followed by Created (Up arrow). I
can set this for a folder. I can not save it when I move out of the folder it
looses it.

How do I save it.

I have tried to save save view mode to but this does not work.

What I am planning on doing is.

Backup existing accounts folders, well everything really.

Restore from this backup to Voyager.

Change the accounts to IMAP or leave messages on the server.

Hopefully that should be it.

Also, does it come with some inbuilt synchronize function or plug-in?

I have searched through the topics in Help and did not find anything.
If this feature is available, is it also possible to:

 1. have this automatic out-of-office response be sent only to
individuals and not to a list like TBUDL. I would not want to burden
the list with multiple out-of-office notices. (Yes, I aware that I can
inhibit the delivery of mail altogether.)

 2. If I can sent this out-of-office response only to individuals, is
there some way to send this only in reponse to the first e-mail from
that person and not subsequent e-mail?

Well I am sure you could use to do it. The bit that I can not see is
matching an address to an address book in the sorting office / filters.

Thanks, but it is not clear which question you are answering. I really
need to know how to set up out-of-office reply, plain and simple. The
 other two questions were secondary.

Sorry it seamed unclear. The only bit of the chain needed to create what you
want that I could not see is the bit where you activate a filter depending
on if an address was in part of the address book. If I could see that then I
would have given you a step by step.

I am sure that you could use to do it, I think that I must be looking in the

Sure, the computer does what you tell it. If you need to reset the Folder

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat! that you can reset to a positive

But I did not tell it to disappear. and I don't need to do that. What you

You learn something everyday. I always thought (and believed) that
setting was ONLY for the first column of the Message List Pane, and
not for the folder tree pane.

Hmmm, I justed tested and found out that this setting *only* effects
the message list, the folder tree is untouched by this setting. This
seems to be correct (aka WAD), because the setting is called
 Options|Preferences|Messages and not Options|Preferences|Columns.

So, I really do not know, how this setting fixed David's problem.

Sorry I thought it had but I was wrong.

Hello MAU,

You can either place the mouse cursor on the line that divides the Name
column and the one to its right and then drag this line to the desired
size, or you can right click on column names (labels) and select width
 there.

Yep I can do that, well both.

As I go up and down the folder tree it expands and I thought that I
 could switch this behaviour off

I have actually never seen the behaviour you describe, I set my column
widths years ago and they never change unless I do it as described
 above.

That is the point I am a big key board used and don't use the mouse. When I
the cursor keys to move up and down the tree it gets really annoying that
the other columns disappear off the right.

P.S. Have you tried moving the column order. I have put unread first and it
looks weird with the tree having the unread numbers of unread.

The problem as I see it is that the first column width is not fixed but
will vary depending on how far into a tree you are in.

If that doesn't do it, shut down the bat then go into your email

If not, ask in the beta group as a small number of people had issues

The result is that gmail will hide any of your posting to a list it you
send it though there SMTP gateway with the credentials of the from address.

It places all your sent mail into your sent box and will filter out the

The way to get around it is either.

1) Create a Sent filter which copiees the message back in to your inbox (or

I am using gMail via POP3 SMPT and I am not see my own e-mail being

I know that gMail will not show your email in the inbox if you sent

I have looked at the filter in gMail but can not see one to override
this behaviour.

I could set up filters for my out box but I don't really want to

I know this problem well, I have had it for years.

Any suggestions as to who the very impolite app is that's stealing the
 association without asking?

Yes, It is Microsoft OE I believe. I will do a bit more digging today and
get to the bottom of it if I can.

It is a pain as it comes along silently and takes away the association with
out asking whilst The Bat! is still running.

Re: Filters - anyone know when they'll be sorted?

2004-10-07 Thread David Elliott
Hello Roelof,

Historians believe that on 07 October 2004, at 14:24:36 +0200 (which was
13:24 where I live) Roelof Otten you wrote (and possibly edited)

Currently we're testing release candidate 5 for TB 3.01, so I guess
the most waiting has been done.

Sorry but that info means nothing to me - do you mean there is never
an RC6 or that there isn't usually, or...

I've never seen an RC5 before, but Ritlabs is working very hard on a
 release without real issues.

And do you _know_ that the filter business has been sorted in 3.01?

Nobody is complaining about non functional filters anymore in the beta
list, that's the only thing I can say. I think they're right, but
 'knowing' it, is something else.

I was having a lot of trouble with filters prior to RC3 but now they have
gone away.

What were your problems ?

If I run it higher than 1024X768 I can't read it, even
with glasses .. some of us aren't 18 any more :-)

Oh then you will hate my old lappy running at 1600 x 1400. :)

Had to get it fixed and I wanted a 3.2 HT processor so the screen came back
as 1400 x 1050 and they look just right for me.

Almost as good as last week with BT cutting the power at Stanstead Abbots in

 Does C:\Windows\temp\ still exist?
Yes, with all the temp files it made from TB.

Do you have write priviliges to that directory?
 Nope.

with out write privileges it can not write. :)

Is there space available on the C: drive?
 Yep! 15GB free...

 Any ideas?

Do you have a Virus checker ?

 of the screen.

Is there a way to get the Mail Ticker to stay where I put it?

The position of the mail ticker is saved on exit of The Bat! into the
registry. There are are only two reasons that I can think of (I may be
wrong)

(1) The Bat! is not exiting properly

(2) You don't have write permission for the registry.

The problem is that if I select Wish List click 'switch' there is no
entry point for a wish -- only for a bug. I guess that's what I was trying
to say. I suppose I could enter a wish in the bug track list but that
 didn't seem right.

Take a look you'll see what I mean. Maybe I'm just missing something.

Enter a wish as a bug. It uses the same code to store both wishes and bugs

I've been using TB for about a week now and I just love it. I downloaded

there's been a Windows 2000 bug that they don't want to fix. Oh well,
 their loss...

My question: I've been using Mailwasher this week and I really like
it. Is there an alternative that some of you guys would recommend?
 Maybe some filters or something?

either

(1) Filters go to http://download.work4theweb.com/Personal/ and look for a
file called spam.zip. I think that there are instructions in there, and I
can not remember who I got it from, so if they would like to own up!!

or

(2) SpamPal from http://www.twinlobber.org.uk/spampal/

It all depends on your needs.

completed but you don't want to send yet.

Right. And one of the reasons for not wanting to send it yet may be that
the message is not complete :)

and that is a draft.

I find that it is very dangerous not to have the ability to distinguish
between a message that is unfinished and one that is finished but not ready
to send.

It might be parked in the outbox for a number of different reasons my main
one is that I don't want to send the message yet but after an event or time
that I waiting for.
