Message Dispatcher defaults (again)

2004-02-07 Thread Stan Robins
On Feb. 5 I asked how the Read flag can be set to be unchecked when
Message Dispatcher starts. I didn't receive any replies, so maybe the
behavior can't be changed.

The workaround, of course, is just to let it remain checked. If the
message is downloaded and deleted from the server, the Read flag
becomes irrelevant.

But I question the interface engineering of the Read flag. There
shouldn't be any default behavior expressed as an option that can't be
changed by the user. And as a matter of strict interface logic, if a
message is marked to be received and deleted off the server, the Read
flag should be clear. The user should have the option to make a clear
flag the default.

It actually can be changed - by using Selective Download filters. If
you select Ignore as the action of an SD filter, the Read flag won't
be set...

Hello Stan,

Message Dispatcher starts. I didn't receive any replies, so maybe the

I asked this same thing and someone gave me a way to change the default
values, but I can't remember how and cannot find the message. If I do
find it, I'll let you know:

The workaround, of course, is just to let it remain checked.

You can uncheck it as soon as you login. Take a look at the Global menu
when the Dispatcher is opened.

How can the Read flag be set to be unchecked when Message Dispatcher
starts? I tried to find the answer to this in the archives, but there
didn't seem to be an answer on point.
