I receive another mail list (The Wall Street Journal) that's
sending me bulletins that contain the following puzzling characters
(e.g., èä¿¿ìä¿¿h). As you can see, they normally fall at the
end of normal paragraphs. It happens in every message.

Can anyone explain to me what might be going on here?

No, not really. But I receive these kind of letters in some mail which
was created on MacOS-systems with Outlook which was written for
 Mac-PC's.

Maybe this gives you a clue?!

That's about all I have so far, Gerd. Clues. But no solutions or
explanations. :(

I guess I'll just write it off as being another one of those many
zany TB! attributes.

Merry Christmas! And: don't drink and surfe! ;-) Hahaha!! (I will
 restrict myself to drink!!)

Hey, it's good to hear from you again, Gerd! Merry Christmas to you, too!

Given that same choice (to drink or surf), I'd choose drink.

Probably somewhere in America, right this very minute, is a group of mothers
thinking about forming a new crusader organization called Mothers
Against Drunk Surfing.

But until they get going, I'm going to do both.

Cheers!

 MADS?!

Yes, MADS, rather than MADD, or Mothers Against Drunk Driving, which
is already an official organization.

You see, I'm just drinking - a wonderful red wine from the Palatine
 (Dornfelder grape) - and surfing.

Me, too. But I'm drinking bourbon.

Same result, only quicker.

Cheers!

 Hello Joe,

I get the same problem frequently. As far as I can tell, it only
happens when the sender is using Outlook Express, but it doesn't
happen with every person using OE, nor does it always happen even with
every e-mail from the same person.

I've only seen it on this particular mail list (i.e., the WSJ).

 Also, people using other mail
programs do not see the the strange characters, so it seems to be
something TB! is doing (or not doing) that causes them, but what that
could be, I have no idea.

Shauna, at least it isn't just *me* again. :)

I find these two lines in the message header:

1. Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

2. X-UIDL: /0Z!!;I*#!9o^!!*eP!

Maybe there's a clue there somewhere?
