Read next unread message in mail folder

2002-04-27 Thread Mark Knipfer

How does TheBat! 1.60c determine the next unread message in the next
mail folder?

When I press Ctrl+] (next unread message) and the next unread message
(or messages) are in a proceeding mail folder, TheBat! does not always
start at the first unread message in the mail folder. TheBat! may
start reading an unread message down in a message thread where I would
need to read the first messages.

It always does that here.

Are there other unread messages within the thread?

TB! will start at the beginning of the message list within the folder
and then move from thread to thread in a descending fashion, drilling
into the threads and opening the unread messages from shallowest in
the thread to the deepest.

You have to thread in descending order of received or creation time
for this to work correctly or else you'll be reading the more recent
messages first.

The Bat! appears to remember the position of your cursor in a folder. When
you return to that folder it tries to place the cursor in the same position
that it was last time. If however you are using a ctrl + ] (or a another
action like it), when it jumps to that folder the cursor will go to it's
last known position and then it will either move forward or backwards to the
next unread message.

As far as I can remember this has ben it's action for a long time.

DE Never here.

I repeated the tests that I did and realised that TB! doesn't remember
the cursor being on a particular message in the message list unless
the message is displayed. After redoing the tests with this in mind I
realize that your experience is possible.

DE The Bat! appears to remember the position of your cursor in a
DE folder. When you return to that folder it tries to place the
DE cursor in the same position that it was last time. If however you

DE message.

This is correct. :-)

In my case where I sort on descending order by date, it will move
down the list from the message where the cursor position last was.

Read next unread message in mail folder?

2000-10-12 Thread Mark Knipfer

In TheBat! 1.46d, how do I read the next unread message in the current
mail folder?

Netscape Communicator accomplishes this task by the user pressing N on
the keyboard for next unread message.

Forte, Inc. Agent 1.8/32.548 accomplishes this task by the user pressing
Ctrl+N or B for next unread message.
