How does one set up the message-list account default column

I see that one can change the size of each field by dragging its

setting dialog. But neither of these setups seems to 'take'
 permanently.

The settings apply to only the current folder, unless that folder has
the property Use account default column settings, in which case, the
settings apply to all folders with that option ticked.

Hello Dave Goodman,

Sometimes it requires you to re-set items you have already configured,
but eventually you will get the column settings to stick. For instance,
once you set the column widths the way you want, and then go to
View/Sort by... for instance, you will lose all the column settings and
have to start over again, and that might happen for all 3 of the View
settings. Just keep plugging away and they will eventually take hold.

As Marck has already mentioned, only the Folders that have the Use
account default column settings box checked will retain those settings,
and so will every Folder you create in the future with that feature
checked.

2001-10-02 Thread Edvinas

Hello,

In folder properties dialog I find an option 'Use the account default column
settings', but I can't find where to set these default settings.

Anyone know how to do that?

Any folder with this checked *is* where you'd set them. Change them in
any default folder and the others will change too.

There sometimes is a problem doing this when you are first setting up
TB!. You can spend a lot of time setting up your columns just the way
you like them, only to realise that you haven't as yet configured your
View settings. So, off you go to fine tune your View settings... only to
realise that your column settings you just spent so much time on... have
all mysteriously assumed the old default settings.

My advice would be to set your View first on any one of your Folders...
Then... Adjust the columns to suit your needs, and it should stick.

Hi Olivier,

...
But *where* do I define those "account default column settings" ??

In any of the folders that have this setting set.

*First* tick this setting for one folder
*then* set up the columns for this folder as you like.

Now all folders with the option set should have the same
layout, and if you change one of them, all others will
follow.

Thanks Wolfgang,

'Use the account default column settings'

2001-04-19 Thread Olivier Mascia

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Hello,

Among the settings I can check/uncheck in the properties of a folder
is : 'Use the account default column settings'.

So I guess I could define somewhere my default set of columns settings
for a whole account and have all folders with that setting checked use
that account default set of columns. Great, that's what I'm looking
for because I would like all my (numerous) folders to share the same
settings except for some of them.

But *where* do I define those "account default column settings" ??
I can't find this in the help file, nor in the GUI.
And when I move the focus to the account line itself in the left pane
(accounts/folders), the columns are just those of the last folder
displayed just before.

What am I missing here ?

I'm sure I'll feel stupid about this, but is there a way to change
the account default column settings. I've looked around but all I
can find is where to change the column settings for an individual
   folder.

*grin* You're going to love this... I only discovered it by accident:
right click on the column headings :-)

Please don't feel stupid to ask anything. That's what the list is for.

Right click the title bar of any of the columns and the 'columns
setup' applet will appear. Make your desired changes as to which
columns you want to be displayed and in what order.

Right click the folder which was opened and in the properties check
the "use the account default column settings" option. This will be
your new default column setting. Any other folder which has this
option checked in it's properties will have it's columns changed to
your new default layout and if you wish to change any others, go into
the properties and make the change as well.

Hope that helps.
