Know Filter and Continue processing with other filters

When I check the Continue processing with other filters box on the Known filter, it will check. If the rule is active and I leave the Sorting Office, when I return the box is no longer checked. However, if the rule in NOT active, the box will stay checked. Can anyone confirm? (I happened
