Now tried and tested and in use, and works great! Thanks very much for the
information.

Excellent! Thanks, Roelof. That, in fact, will be very handy indeed.

Marek answered you about the %MailDir macro and AFAIK TB can't
handle environment variables by itself, but the XMP plug-in can help
you with that. XMP has the %XMP_Envir that can read evironment
variables.
XMP can be downloaded from http://www.gaijin.at/tbpxmp.php The help
file is German, but should be clear even if you don't 'do' German.

Apart from the %MailDir macro TB also supports the %AccountDir and the
%ProgramDir macros, apart from the time and Windows version there
aren't any system related things that I need in my templates, so that
might be enough for you too.

Excellent. That's a lot less bother...even better then! That will save me
having to update the paths for every template when I move my mail folder
about ;-)

%EMAIL% is a Windows variable, not TB's internal variable, for MAIL
directory TB uses "%MAILDIR", so use

%INCLUDE="%MAILDIR\templates\family\family.tricia.new.message.txt"

Tried that out and it doesn't work. Thanks for the idea though.

If it is possible at all it would be extremely useful.

I don't know if there is a way to use environment variables in
templates, but I see why your try doesn't work. In TB!'s templates the
percent sign indicates a following macro. You might try %% instead.
This should prevent TB! from seeing the following as a macro. If it
recognizes the EV, I don't know.

Environement variables and templates

2009-10-20 Thread Simon
'Ello TBUDL,

How do I - or is it possible to - use environment variables in message
 templates?

In Windows, EMAIL is set to TB!'s message base. Normally then you'd use
%EMAIL% in scripts and what have you. Can I use this in TB!'s templates?

 E.g.

 instead of:

%INCLUDE="X:\Messages\Email\messages\templates\family\family.tricia.new.message.txt"

 this:

 %INCLUDE="%EMAIL%\templates\family\family.tricia.new.message.txt"

It doesn't work so that is what I am asking if there is a way.
