If you have only a few accounts, that works well. However, I was wondering whether there is a less time-consuming way if you have more than 10 or 20 accounts. If I select an account other than the current active account, whether through the account tree or the main window bottom bar, it triggers a mail poll. I have the accounts set to Connect to Server...when account is selected, which is why it refreshes when it does. I want to keep this behaviour, but the scrolling of the log window is the downside. So I get the sound most of the time, not every 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can try sending/checking for mail one account at a time and not coincident with your every-10-minute schedule and see which one triggers the noise. I did that before I looked at the logs. Coincidentally, MyGate could connect to the server, so I did not get any sound. The RO mail clients like TB will connect to the server whether there's an RO internet connection or not. No more beeps, etc. The server can be told RO to connect only to the net on certain times or in the case of existing RO connection. Hmmm, good idea. I didn't consider that. I know how to do a local mail server, that's not a problem but I think it is to complicated for my needs. Annoying error sound
Hello tbudl, I configured TB to check periodically for mail every 3 minutes. But if I'm not connected to the internet when I recieve could not connect to server error TB makes a sound. To be more specific it makes a Exclamation sound. This might be OK...but if I hear it too often becomes very annoying. You can't deactivate the sound unless you deactivate it in the windows soundsettings. HV I let the program check my POP3 every 2 minutes and everytime I get HV this sound. Perhaps your ISP doesn't like you checking for mail so often. I know for sure that GMX blocks POP access after some checks within a short period of time. When your mailbox is empty, you will not hear anything from TB! well. i hear this beep too. and it's there. and there's no error, too. it drove me insane --- the only solution i found was to get the pc speaker out of my computer. and i still hear it beeping, since my mainboard has some integrated pcspeaker thingie, apparantly. If you do get an error beep, there must be an error somewhere. Killing the ERROR sound
I have my machine on a small home network. Whenever someone is on the net, I want the machine to check the mail and give a sound whenever new mail is recieved. I have configured the program to check for mail every 10 minutes. If this check comes when the internet connection is down, the program tries to connect, does not succed, and makes an error sound. This can be quite irritating.
