Extracting Password

2004-09-01 Thread Joseph N.
I need the plaintext version of a password to one of my POP accounts
that is in TB!'s account properties. I seem to have changed it since
I last recorded it, and now I need it again. TB! won't let me copy
the p/w field in account properties. How else can I figure out what
password my mailer is sending to my webmail service??

There's a utility out there called 'debat' which will do
it - here's the link from their 'readme' file:

Good luck!

* Close tb
* In windows explorer, go to the account-files on your hard drive.
  There's a file 'protocol.ini', change 'logging=0' to 'logging=1'
* In case 'protocol.ini' doesn't exist, create it put the following
  in it:
8---
[pop]
logging=0
log=pop.session
8---
* restart tb
* check mail for that account read the logfile (pop.session).
* don't forget to set the logging back to '0' afterwards.

hth!

Roel, it worked like a charm; thank you very much. How in the world
did you know?

New features are often introduced into beta's, but never discovered by
'normal' use, so the place to be is tb-beta. That's where you get the
detailed changelogs discussions about almost every feature
introduced/altered :-)

Glad to be of assistance :-)
