That's why it's better to have the mail on the computer (start downloading and go to have dinner first), opening them with IMAP would be excruciatingly slow. If I see on my mobile phone (using IMAP and only donwloading headers) that there is an a mail with a large attachment that is not urgent, I use the dispatcher to choose to not download it now, as it would slow down the process of downloading all the other mails. Here in Thailand, I use POP even though the speed it quite OK, because I like keep messages for years and I don't want to keep them on the server. If you download by POP (when travelling) and there are 5000 messages on the server, download slows down considerably. I have over 100,000 messages in my company account on my computer, in well over 100 folders being fed by well over 100 filters. -- Cheers, Thomas. http://thomas.fernandez.hat-gar-keine-homepage.de/ Message reply created with The Bat! 5.8.10 under Windows 7 6.1 Build 7601 Service Pack 1 Current version is 5.2.2 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

As I said, I don't know anything about IMAP, so I wouldn't know where TB! ranks. As nearly as I can tell, IMAP is altogether inferior. It's slow and clunky to manage (ty TB! for improving on that issue), but I didn't set up this account; my weird SIL who did thinks IMAP is the best thing since sliced bread did. He's brilliant in IT and security terms, but he holds some strange opinions :-) He also thinks Thunderbird is a great mailer, so you can see we don't see eye to eye on computing matters. He assures me that the account can be converted, no problem from the server point of view. It would be kind of strange if converting that account put the whole thing right, but it seems unlikely. It's on our own server, and the IMAP in this version really does seem very usable, and I was going to leave it alone. If there is consensus that it might fix the filtering problems and other oddities to convert that account to POP, I'll give it my best shot. I take it I'll have to delete the account and reload it. Heartily agree that TheBat! is the best mailer in the world. I'll even give them the IMAP, though I don't know why people like it. Not that keen on having my stuff on other people's servers, if I don't have to for some reason. The IMAP in this version is the fastest I've seen, though nowhere close to the POP speed, of course. My brother the mainframe(r) loaded TB! up in WinE, (laptop, not BigIron, on a slooow connection) and kind of yelped when he fetched the mail. We were talking at the time :-) He couldn't believe how fast it was, even in WinE, which was only one reason I ran it. There was some kind of dealbreaker thing for him, but I don't remember what it was. I just wish I could get this version up to previous standards :-) It's seriously broken here at the moment. sigh Best - -- Lynn theli...@comcast.net * * *Aun Aprendo *** Win7U *** OVB Kubuntu Linux 13.04 *** I'd rather be WARP'ed* * * Team OS/2 Windows 6, Build 7601 5.8.8 Current version is 5.2.2 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
