auto-purge/compress of unread messages

Does anybody know, how I can get this to work: In an certain folder I collect messages of email-lists. I read just a few of them. Most of them will be unread. The settings of the folder are: Purge messages (keep only 100) and compress the folder when shut down TheBat. But it works only with
