MS Hello Michael,

 - How do I set up a button that has a drop-down arrow, similar to the
   'Receive new mail' button.

MS That is a functionality well hidden in TB's deep muddy waters...

MS 1. In the Customize dialog choose Create new container (it's the 4th
MSbutton from the top between actions and layout list). A new
MStoolbar container (with a triangle on the right) is created. Select
MSit.

MS 2. Select the action you want to have in that container in the
MSAction List and press Shift and the Insert Item button (its
MSthe first button from the top). The item should be added to your
MScontainer.

Interesting. I must have missed this. This feature still doesn't give me
what I want, although it's close. I want to be able to recreate some of the
buttons that are on the Standard toolbar. With them you can click on the
button to chose a default action or click on the drop-down arrow to choose
an alternate action.

I did find a way to do this but it's using the tbuser.def file in the Docs
and settings folder. I commented on it in my other e-mail on this subject,
'Re:Recovering Toolbars from Old Computer'.

M If I understand what you want, do this:

M - Click 'Create new Toolbar' button, not _container_, give it a name and,
M when you OK, it will appear in the left window as a new container under
M Main Form.
M - Select the new toolbar. In Actions, select the one you want to be the
M default for the button and insert it into the Layout window which should
M still be blank. You can also select now the icon for the button.
M - Select this first (default) action in layout and in Actions window
M select and shift+insert the action you want to be the first in your
M drop down list.
M - You can now add (insert) more actions in the drop down list. If in
M Layout you select one of the second level (drop down) actions you can
M now just insert (without shift) a new action below it. You only need to
M shift+insert if the top level (default) action is selected.

Aha! You have the answer.

Why is this so confusing (Shift+insert)? If there is this type of
flexibility, there should be documentation.

Thanks for your comments. I'm going to save your e-mail for the time that I
forget how to do it.
